Sounds cool, I have been to the LeMay Family Collection at Marymount, but I have been meaning to get to the actual Lemay museum haha. Although u nfortunately I will be out of town both of those weekends :(

I would be on board with this. Alternatively, we could arrange a private group tour of the larger and much, much weirder LeMay collection at Marymount. Doesn’t get any more Oppo-appropriate than a barn full of car-sized shelving where you can see a rare Fiat stacked above a Model T stacked above a Matra, all next to a ‘30s fire truck, a circus animal wagon, and some tractors. The whole place is like that x 1500 cars. It’s like being inside James May’s brain if he was American and a disorganized schizophrenic.

I was there last fall for the Studebaker Driver’s Club International meet. It’s quite good!

June 15/16 is my college g raduation weekend. My Mrs. insists I walk across the stage even though I’m not terribly interested and I’ll probably still have family lingering in town the following weekend, but there’s a chance they’ll be gone and I’ll be all alone, so the second weekend gets my vote.

LeMay has Avanti #R1001 (the first production Avanti)!

It sucks because I love doing cruises and meets, but it’s hard to leave your wife to deal with the baby for a day or more at a time. The cruise we did in 2017 is close to my place and would be like a half-day commitment that I could probably even take the baby on, while a two-day trip with the baby requires considerably more preparation (bordering on impossible, since I’m not sure how he’d do sleeping away from home and we’d need frequent feeding/changing stops).

For some of us, just entering/leaving Canada would also require obtaining at least a passport card for the baby/children...

With 2-3 hours between feedings, it’s not easy. As they get older, it gets easier. Around 3 -5 years , I suspect I will just be able to take him with me, feed him normal human food, and just stop for normal bathroom breaks.

I just adopted a ~year old pupper a few days ago , so I’m in a similar ( but much easier) situation, albeit one that will become more flexible inside of a month or so, rather than several years from now.

There have been some preliminary discussions about another Portland meet, since several of the Seattle folks at the last one (notably Dr Z and AIM) liked what they saw of Portland and want to come back for a longer visit. We’ve talked about early September (I’m thinking weekend after Labor Day to avoid crowded everything). This would probably be more of a “meet up at a pub/restaurant one evening, go on a short 4- hour cruise up SR 47 and back the next day” sort of thing that would be easier to integrate into a weekend trip with the family.

I’ll post about this soon (late this week / weekend) to get the ball officially rolling.

Pacific Southern Chicken and Waffles in Tacoma is something everybody should experience. I stopped by after buying my first Volvo and I’ve been thinking about the place ever since. Massive servings, great spices and good prices.

It’s very close, and unbelievably bonkers. It might be better to do it on open day in August (31st this year) , they have a huge event where the museum is open, along with LeMay’s home, which has several more buildings and a massive toy collection. They run some of the bus collection as shuttles between parking, the house and Marymount. Lots of car clubs show up as well.

The open day in August is the day to go, as you see a bunch of stuff you won’t see if you go any other day of the year.

In past the August date was the only day of the year the collection could be viewed by the public (even the cars at Marymount) , and I still think it’s the most fun day to see it - the parking lots are a show unto themselves and it’s a party atmosphere.

Yall have fun, ima be in Fremont riding my bike naked that day. I would post pics from last year, but would probably violate kinja policy. Awesome parade, two outdoor concerts, nude bicyclists, and art cars.

Lemay is nice with the general admission, but there isnt as much there there as i had expected. I kind of wished for more in depth info on the cars, their development, reception, and why they were chosen for display. I know, wikipedia is on my phone.
