By the way, Buick is also introducing a new in-betweener. It’s a real nested Russian doll scenario in the crossover market today

Looks pretty fresh and handsome with respect to its competition. I don’t hate either. If they did an electric one with 150-200 miles range, I’d be all in

What a funny time to be alive. All the popular SUV names are being resurrected and they’re all unibody crossovers. Not a bad thing, just funny to see that happen.

I know I’ve said this before, but this is such a GM move. Bring back the name of a previously midsize 5-7 seater and make it a Subcompact + Crossover while the midsize is called Blazer. Hmm.

I expect a weak-ass turbo and nothing more.

When I think funky electric “crossover” thingy , I think the Kia soul EV

It's just B L A Z E R, aka a slightly lifted Equinox with different body cladding.

That Encore GX looks a lot like the PeugeOpel Grandland X, n ot very surprising as they share design DNA,  but still interesting to see. They might have started from the same drawing, but ended up as 2 separate cars

Chevy will market it as a rugged Trail Rated™ Blazer

I’ve seen it in person on lots...every week I play a game at the Chevy dealer I service. Blazer or Equinox. Anything not loaded looks rental spec in the Blazer, just as Equinox’s do, b ut the Blazer shouldn’t even have rental spec units.

GM shuttered Pontiac/Olds/Saturn etc....but they are doing the same shit they did in the 80's. Bunch of similar shit across the board, just more under one roof now.

Well, I don’t hate it, I guess.

It will probably get the 1.5L turbo engine.

I think GM operates on the same decision making methodology that I’m used to seeing in the Navy. Namely, you always cross your best option off the list. Think of the thing that makes the most sense, then make sure you don’t do that thing. You don’t have to act on the worst idea, but don’t give away your best either.

One of my best friends is in the Navy currently and after hearing many stories you’re exactly right. There’s always some head s haking.

Awesome! What does your friend do?

I spent 6 years enlisted as a reactor electrician on a nuclear sub, then college, then 3 years working for a  naval architect, and the last 2 have been back at the Navy as a civilian engineer doing ship testing. I love it, but they make some unfathomably silly decisions sometimes .

I actually kinda like it, it looks spunky, like a pissed of Jeep Renegade. I’d buy one for my wife, but we have opposite tastes in vehicles and I suspect she’ll think it’s ugly.

Which is why we’re going to see so many variations of CUVs . People either want the rugged or jelly bean look.

I loathe that they are cancelling their sedans and replacing then with these monstrosities. Curse you GM! If you are going to trim the fat, trim the fat.

He’s an officer after doing Corp of Cadets at Virginia Tech. Some type of Engineering but not sure specifically what type. That’s the funny part after he moved across the country to Seattle, we talk about the crazy or funny stuff but not so much what he does day to day. He’s going on a fun deployment this summer (well as fun as they can be). San Diego then down through the Panama Canal and over to Spain and a few other European countries. Plus a stop at Fleet Week. He’s excited which is good.

Thats great. Hope its a good deployment.

The service is weird like that - I think its cause you're immersed in it 24/7, the last thing you want to talk about with people from the outside world is more service stuff. At least that's how I always felt.  When I talked to old friends or was home on leave I just wanted to hang out and bullshit about old times or whatever else was going on, Navy stuff was the last thing on my mind.
