The first car I drove was an 82 Rabbit 4D. It was even that color. Not the fastest car in the world, but it was fun as hell for my 16-year-old self to drive (manual) and began a long obsession with VWs.

I know an old lady with the diesel truck. I am maxed out on space and she keeps saying she wants to sell it. They went way up in price during the veggie oil diesel craze but it’s all electric now, so I think they are back down. She has no idea about that anyway.

Yes, and fast road race and Ice car too. My first real racecar was a rabbit. I think one of these at about 1700 pounds with a 160 hp civic SI drivetrain would be a killer in Lemons.

I don’t think either has A/C like my pickup did, which means that they are mercifully free of the NVH-activated booby trap that was the North American market A/C compressor bracketing.

The glow plug replacement is on my private hate list, though. Had to do it once in freezing weather. A glow plug right behind and kind of below the injection pump? No, and GFY.

My grandpa bought an 84 rabbit D as his runabout on the farm.. He used to load up the back and passenger seat with firewood and cedar shakes and drive them all over the place. Grandma wouldn’t even sit in it..

It was his favourite car of many. It was funny because I was in a vw club and love the hoodride look, while he was making the OG thing..
