The C4 cupholder is a product of it’s time and intended market. On my 93 LT1/6-speed Vette, nothing wider than can of coke at the bottom fit in the cup holders. For 1993, I consider this a forgivable sin.
The real problem was that their placement was clearly designed with the 75% of C4 sales being automatic cars in mind. Use of the forward c upholder required care shifting into third to not hit yyour drinl with the side o your hmd and all but locked out fifth. The rear cupholder all but locked out sixth and reverse, and required care to shift to fourth. The placement would be fine with the automatic shifter.

Back in the day the guys at Canepa told me it would do 180 or something if you taped over the seams and the front lights. I was like okay I don’t care I love it.

I think BMW stole this design for my Mini, it'll only hold those tall cans and medium drink. And I cant shift into 5th if the drink is larger than a small one.
