Driving on Catalina Island

So one of the great things I love about island life, is the small feel and Avalon goes all out. Almost everyone just owns a golf cart instead of a real car. Also, I think 90% of all scion IQ’s sold in the states are on Catalina island. Sorry for the duplicate pics

We took our golf cart on a little scenic drive. I love this place

This memorial looks like something out of tomb raider

I highly recommend Catalina island if you’ve got a free weekend or longer

Sure Catalina is cool, but San Clemente is the bomb

I went  to a marine biology camp there as a kid. It was fantastic. Got to go snorkling, get chased by buffaloes, and watch my classmates who’d never been on a boat get seasick.

I just went there last year for a day trip. The boat ride ruined me (dramamine saved me from actually getting sick, but it still sucked) so it isnt something I would want to do again. But it is definitely something I recommend to all people to go do. Some nice hiking and beautiful ocean views over there. I also enjoyed all of the obscure small cars over there. There were quite a few older JDM micro car things over there that you just dont see elsewhere in the US.

Some of these scenes look reminiscent of the Village in the show The Prisoner . Which makes me think the ideal vehicle is a Mini Moke.

yeah, the boat ride can be rocky some times. knocks on wood , it’s never bother me, but my wife was feeling it.

Some people are just immune to motion sickness. Its the number one reason I dont really like flying on planes in turbulence nor being a backseat passenger in a car either. I’ve found bonine to be the best low-symptom treatment but its just a pain taking medicine to “just function”. I am not really allergic to pollen at all though so I guess theres a tradeoff there!

I would think something like a Bond Bug would be fantastic. The lack of weather protection is a nonissue, and the turning circle is less than 25ft.

If I were to own a vehicle on that island, it would definitely be more for the purpose of off roading since there is plenty of rugged terrain out there. But it would also need to be super small to fit in the town. So my choice would probably be a modded Geo Tracker
