I don’t care if it has a manual, or an IMS bearing update, or super low miles (that’s not necessarily a good thing for a 15 year old M96). No one should be paying $54k for a freakin 996 convertible.
If you’re paying in that ballpark for a 996 convertible, it better be a Turbo. For $54k you can get a beautiful, clean, low mileage 997.2 C2S, or a mint and low mileage 997.1 C4S. Just don’t waste that money on a 996 Carrera.
But if they can find a sucker for this thing, then good for them.

How have I never noticed before that the dash in these looks like it was lifted straight out of a 1999 Ford Explorer?

54k USD is about 73k CAD which gets you into CPO and almost-new Porsche territory. Lots of 997s available, and you can get into nearly new Cayennes and even Macan Turbos at that price.
Of course the cost will jump by 13% once our fucking thievery of a tax is applied but that’s a whole other problem.

54k will also get you a CPO’d 718 that will blow a 996 out of the water in every conceivable way.

Yeah, the interior is a mess. Always has been.

For 54k you can get a whole lot more p-car than that.

I drove a 2004 996 turbo cabriolet back in 2017, the dealer wanted ~46k for it, much better deal than this.

I’d rather have a 997 C2S

That’s the nicest, lowest mileage 996 C4S I’ve seen in a long time. (And I spend way too much time browsing 996s.)
But, that makes it a $30k -35k car, not $54k. Crack pipe all day.
997.2 manuals are rare, but do appear in this price range. 997.1s are everywhere, and as others have said, 50k can get you a nice 996 capital-T Turbo.
There are non-S 996s near me with low miles for mid-$ 20k s. Including a 4 0 ,000 mile Targa with a factory-custom color match, two-tone leather interior that looks like it’s never seen an ass, and recent IMS upgrade for $24k.

Any sane person would.

I would have bought a manual turbo coupe for 46k.

it wasn’t that long ago that 54k would get you a 996 GT3.
My loaded 997.1 would be a 50k -53 k car at that low mileage. 54k is mega crack pipe.

Last year I test drive a 997 S cab that was about as nice as this one but cheaper.
The sort of person who might pay $54k for this has never heard of an IMS, and won’t research to find out.

Oh yeah, they’re beautiful. I get struck by lust whenever I see the 718 GTS’s at my dealership. Those leftover ‘18's are so cheap..
