Been watching Tim Conway videos in light of his passing today, and came across this, one of the all time greats. And I just went to the dentist this morning.

Truly one of The funniest humans ever to have lived. He could so effortlessly bring people to tears from laughter.

I needed that laugh, ttyymmnn! I was beside myself in laughter knowing damn well Harvey Korman wasn’t going to be able to stay in character.
Rest in peace, Tim Conway!

Just watched a bunch of clips. He was amazing. At times he would throw away the whole scene just to torture the cast. H
is timing was perfect.

I read a NYT article today that talked about how he would save his ad libs for the taping just so he could crack up the other cast members.

After watching some of those clips, I can totally see that - especially the elephant story ad-libing. He, kept interrupting
, waited for the audience to stop laughing, waited for the cast to continue with the scene, and interrupt again. He ruined that scene for the enjoyment of the cast and audience.
I have not seen any episodes of the CBShow in probably, well…. Since it aired maybe?
Why does she have such a tight grip on those episodes. It’s almost like she’s Prince.. I have seen infomercials on TV about purchasing the series on DVD (maybe VHS, I can’t remember) but it’s not in syndication.
How many generations are lost to this variety show? CB is celebrated at the Emmys sometimes, presents at award shows, etc.. Who the hell under 40 knows who she is? Shame it never aired.
I took a break from this reply to look some of this stuff up and answer my own questions.
Also seems that Conway often ruined the SECOND taping of the show if he thought the first one was printable. Sometimes they edited in some of his ad-libbing if it was good.

It’s the same with Johnny Carson. It’s a shame that all those episodes aren’t out there. It’s part of American history, while the networks hope to keep making a buck off of them. I would love to watch those old shows I watched as a kid, but I’m not going to buy a DVD.

I sent a message home to see if Mrs McMike could check and see if we get that WEtv. Sent her the link when she asked why.
She replied two minutes later with “They are all set to record, there’s one on tonight!”
I’m trying to not get my hopes up, I know the show was genius, but am preparing for some of the skits that were less than genius.
Just like SNL. We gush about how good it was in certain eras, but we all know we are only remembering the good parts.

On balance, though, the Not Ready for Primetime Players were by far the funniest cast ever on SNL. Even if I am looking at it through rose colored glasses. Perhaps I’m too old, but I rarely laugh when watching current SNL.
