The devs have purposely tanked the Kinja subblog style of posting in order to reduce viewership, lower demand, and finally kill off the subblogs since they probably cost more than they’re worth.

I had the opposite theory. No text preview forces more clicks but devalues content. You're dependent on an enticing photo and a suggestive headline. Basically the format forces everything wrong with the internet upon us even when money isn't involved between the participants themselves...

Reddit concerns me, because some subs are true gems, but many many many many are the opposite of gems. Further, the way comments are displayed makes Kinja look like they did something well

Making a new site would be very difficult IMHO... Plus, a big source of posters in Oppo is the front page.... so it would be hard getting new people onboard outside of Kinja. Unless some other automotive publication decides to take us under their wing.
