Today my bicycle decided that being a 20 speed was too tedious, and we decided together that it would become a 16 speed for the sake of not fixing the real problem. ... anyway the taller gears are pretty much useless.

Bend the derailleur hanger? Need to adjust the cables? Bikes are pretty simple; no need to lose out on 4 gears.

I fear that the derraileur itself is a bit bent... the hanger is OK for now . The issue is that it doesn’t seem to work from 1-2 or from 2-3 no matter how I adjust it, so I lost 1 and 2 in the back, in return the lower gears for high speed riding work much better (it would skip between 10 and 9 at high speed and it was very freaky and super dangerous)

Honestly, I don’t want to dump any more money into this bike, I want to get a cheap Specialized or Trek cus finding replacement parts for La Pierre bikes here in Mexico is downright impossible. I might get a new rear rim and new tires   when the thread runs out, but other than that... nothing.

The read derailleur is not brand specific. Any bike shop should be able to get it back up and running. Unless you really just want a new bike.

I guess I would only need to get a new frame, pretty much the rest can be installed into any bike.

define cheap?

coz with specialized and trek you’d be looking at about a grand for a good starter

cheaper than that and you will probably run into the same issues you are having now

The defining issue is that the cheap Specialized or Trek will have plenty of support here, whereas the LaPierre is on its own. So even if I have issues with those, I know it takes three days to fix rather than a couple of months.

I would get something around 600 euros...which is around the same as what this one cost when new.

i dont get why your current bike is such a pain in the arse.... its all shimano (or something like it)

theres no reason for anything to take that long unless im missing something

Ah, but how do you mount the Shima no parts?

The only thing that has let me down yet is the hanger. It takes around two months to ship a hanger since there’s only one manufacturer that makes them and also delivers them here. I tried to have a shop fabricate one but they fucked it up so bad it wasn’t even funny.

umm.. on all bikes ive ever had the mounts for parts were standardized

heres your frame... heres the holes where all the bits go

the only thing i run into issues with is that my fork/frame arent made for the giant brake discs i want

i thought they were all standardized nowadays

Shamefully the hanger my bike uses is specific to the frame.
