Our club has a member who works in graphics design and will make up a set for a reasonable fee.
Since I’ll probably be changing my class at some point, I was cheap and made my own with a couple of these:

Those were cut into 12"x18" number signs and 6"x12" class signs.
I blocked out the numbers/letters with painters tape and sprayed with black paint.

I’ve always gotten mine from Solo Performance - very pleased with their quality.

Did they stick? I've gotten sheets like that before, and theyve never worked.

Go to the home despot and grab some “magnetic vent covers” they come in 3-packs for $5 (or less) , 2 packs are enough to make a full set of letters and numbers with spares. They stick well (I’ve even used mine at the track) and if you lose one you’re out $1 worth of material.

Stop by a sign company that makes the ones for company logos, ask for scraps.
Or ask to buy blank door magnets and cut your own. Make sure they are regulation size, or easily legible, some small ones I had weren’t good enough so I just used white masking tape.

I’ve used this set for a few years now, and never had them come off (even at speeds approaching 70 mph). Storing them flat so the edges don’t curl up seems to help.
I’ve seen some people use a
strip of painters tape along the leading edge to
help prevent air getting underneath.

I’ve used them for a few years, not all stores carry the magnets and they are usually hidden back by the vents/filters. For the cost of one set of pre-cut magnets you can get a ton of diy magnets (I’m going to try a digital display approach with some of my extra sheets so that I can have uniform pieces that can be used for a larger variety of numbers and are easier to cut/replace).
My only current issue is that I have too many numbers and letters and they are becoming a hassle to lug around (I attach them to a old PC case side that’s flat and magnetic).

I debated on forking the cash for a set of pre-cut magnets, but decided against it. This will be my first rallycross/autocross event, and not sure when the next one will be. So cheap DIY will suffice. Van is white, though, so I’ll have to paint them too.

When you want to get fancy, your local group may have a sponsor or participant who specializes in such things. Particularly once you get yourself a Corvette and magnets don’t stick (I’m being optimistic about your participation trajectory).
For example of how fancy you can get, you can check out the webpage of the local sponsor I got mine from. https://www.vinylvisionconcepts.com/ There is also a link to their IG account with lots of pictures of magnetic numbers they have made.

These guys are the successors to Solotime, which was the mail order source of choice from like sometime in the 80's to present. In the alternative, any sign shop local to you should be able to cut you some numbers for not very much money.

Amazon sells rolls of magnetic vinly for about $12 a piece. One roll can make me a set of numbers and letters for both sides of the car about twice. So that one roll gives me two seasons worth before I need to replace them. Generally they end up needing replacing because I will inevitably toss them in the trunk and forget about them or crumple them up in a bag someplace. Or they tear from general abuse. If taken care of, I could easily forsee them lasting much longer. They have always stuck to my car without issue for autocross. I have found for track days, the higher speeds tends to rip off the larger numbers if I dont also tape down the edges. But I have been very happy with just printing out numbers on paper and then trace cutting the vinyl with a scissor.
