Don’t park a 20' long, quad cab extended bed truck, with a cap on the bed,
out front of your apartment complex, where it can easily be seen. (Photo for representation purposes).
Someone, obviously lacking in the intelligence department, decided to steal my dads ‘99 Dodge Quad Cab, extended bed
pickup this morning. Luckily, said thief parked it out front of an apartment building along a major roadway, and a friend of my dad’s saw it, and called the cops. They arrived pretty quickly, and waited to see if anyone came out to try and drive it away. Apparently, that didn’t happen, so the cops are dusting it for prints, so my mom says, and my dad hopes to get it back sometime today. I’m not sure the condition, but there wasn’t anything in the back for them to steal.

They most likely stole it in order to transport drugs or a body. Pickup truck with a cap is perfect for that. They didn’t care if it was found afterwards.

I’m glad you all got it back. Vehicles, especially older stuff, are often stolen to be used for committing some other crime and then dumped. The idea being that whatever might be captured by security cameras or reported by a good s amaritan isn’t a vehicle that leads back to them. Things that don’t attract much attention in the first place are even better.
Btw, that thing looks to be in awesome condition! I wish that color was still a thing on new cars today.

Yeah, not sure if the thief thought it had tools in the back, wanted a big truck for “moving” or what. The pic isn’t of his truck, but it is in good shape for being 20 years old. It looks exactly like the truck in the pic, but my dad’s truck is brown.

We had this happen with my mom’s car a long time back.
Bright red ‘04 Audi A6 wagon, stolen from a shop and then parked/abandoned at an apartment complex 4 blocks away.
Took the cops 3 months to find it there.
