toyota sold at least 1 tundra in the netherlands
and it bears the badge of at least $60000 in taxes added to msrp
so there ya go oppo... its a hundred grand tundra
(its also hideous)
(edit) its not actually sold here... but it seems to be a 60 grand euros truck... wich is wierd... importers must know some tricks to dodge some of the tax somewhere

Our intern at my job just bought a tundra, I’m guessing close to $30,000 USD.

Yeah it has clues indicating a US car...DOT reflectors and possibly weird license plate screw holes that don't match the Dutch plates? Are those even regular Dutch plates?

lol.. its not small

seems when importing the taxes work different here (or the importers know some tricks)
i was expecting our ridonculously high big engine tax to push it up to a hundred grand
![]() 05/06/2019 at 15:58 |

nope those are american style dutch plates they are smaller than normal

Could it be a US service members car? One of my co-workers was stationed in Germany, since he was a Colonel he boated his Chevy Suburban to germany and used it while he was there.

WTF with the hood badge, that is not a USDM badge.

I’ve been to Europe a few times and I don’t understand why anyone would want to drive a behemoth like that over there.
Even if fuel wasn’t expensive, a large vehicle like that
on the narrower roads and smaller parking spaces
generally sucks.

Was just in the Netherlands this weekend, and saw a matte forest green Tundra in K inderdijk. Not only was I surprised to see it, my better half, who couldn’t care less about cars turned to me and asked how the hell that found its way here.

U.S. vehicles seem to more popular than people think in Germany and Holland. Here in the U.K. we also have a few U.S. dealerships. Mostly in the large cities like Manchester, London, etc... where having something different is the in thing.

Can only imagine...
Was surprised by a couple cars that seemed to find their way over. The other oddball to me was the Dodge Journey I was stuck behind in Gouda. But l oved all the V90' s and V60's (non XC-versions ) that I saw all weekend.

If you’re crazy enough to transport this thing over there and use it on Dutch roads, I don’t think paying ~ double for fuel is a big concern.
Your mental health is covered, so it’s still cheaper than the US.

Are they sold new anywhere except North America? That one is a personal
import, either new or used.

lol good point
![]() 05/06/2019 at 17:11 |

They only sold that one in the Netherlands because there isn’t room for any more.

If you actually use it as a work vehicle and register it in your company’s name, taxes won’t be as bad.
Run the plates on the Rdw website. It'll show you the exact some they paid in BPM taxes when it was first registered in the Netherlands.

There’s a mob here in Oz that brings in Tundras AND converts them to RHD and then sells them to the caravan crowd...they are not cheap.
On the other hand, both RAM and Chevrolet factory import their trucks (plus the Corvette) then af termarket convert them to RHD and sell them through their dealer network...only full of fruit versions and always big big coin..

In South America, at least in Chile we have both Hilux and Tundra and some people import Tacoma’s too.
Here is a police one:
The Tundra SR5 4X4 is only US$3000 more than the fully loaded Hilux but you get worse fuel economy and less payload.

It was imported when it was 1.5 years old, and the CO2 related taxes were €10.5k at import. Those taxes were probably that ‘low’ due to the commercial car plates (starting with V)
