Would a 2018 Buick Regal TourX class in GS or HS? It isn’t explicitly listed but the Regal is listed in GS.
My friends have convinced me to run. Our lineup consists of 2017(?) V60, 2018 TourX, 2019 Model 3, and a 1970 Chevelle with a LSA.
This weekend will be hilarious to say the least.
+
= hilarious rolly polly fun.

I like the TourX but hate the body cladding. Ever consider getting it sprayed body color?

A rep at a car show told me you can get it taken off easily.

I do not understand the classing at all, so no help there.
I suspect the model 3 will do fairly well, the tourX okay but not great, and the chevelle (if on stock suspension) will do good burnouts and understeer a bunch.

All 20 14-20 19 Buick Regals are in GS (all is explicitly in the newest version of the rules).

I would expect it to be placed in GS. “If a version is omitted from the class listing, and is otherwise eligible for the category, then its classification will be the same as the equivalent car which is listed.” Yes, the wagon is heavier, but I don’t see that bumping it to HS.
Sorry for the small picture, fourth from bottom as you probably have already seen.
I was interested to see that this year they classed the Tesla Model 3, didn’t have it last year.

They lied, kinda. You can take them off but the front bumper runs halfway up the the front wheel and is molded in. If you do remove the ones held on by tape, you create a drain into the rear bumper where they snapped together.

Model 3 is in DS for now. At least, that where he registered it. Local event, so I think they’ll just be happen it showed up.
Do you know where the line about omitted versions is?

It’s not stock. It’s still limited on the front end though. There is only so much you can do with stock hubs/knuckles. 5 link out back.

5 link in the rear is odd, factory is a triangulated 4 link, not sure what you’d gain by completely redesigning it (still a solid axle on coil s
prings at the end of the day). There is a ton of improvement that can be made up front to the geometry while keeping the stock hubs on an A body, so he may do decently well.

Car show rep misrepresented a detail about a car? I’m shocked! I don’t know what’s even real anymore! :)
Yeah, I figured it wouldn’t be as easy as just snapping off some plastic pieces, but I didn’t press.

Just talked with him. Current setup is coilovers all around. Swaybars and a panhard bar in the rear.

It is at the very beginning of the car classing section of the rules, Appendix A, on page 184 .

Well, those mods would bump his car out of the Street classes. I’m not familiar with the nuances once that happens, I think that it would put the car into an ST class.
Edit: Never mind, realized you were talking about the Chevelle, and I think the LSA puts that into XP, although CAM takes almost anything, so that is probably the way to go for that car.

Those coilovers in the front should have some aftermarket arms as well, which will correct the ass-backwards factory geometry. He’ll have a lot of fun and probably do fairly well from the sounds of it!

He runs CAM. Way easier figuring out the rules for that class.

this is the only reason I fuss about it, besides an overwhelming dislike for body cladding and the hidden rust beneath it
Look how fuckin’ awesome it looks without it. And we’ll never get that version. Sigh.

No, I feel the same way, believe me. That’s why I said something to the guy.
