2002 Focus needs a new wheel bearing, which is integrated into the drum. OK, I got a new drum/hub assembly witht he wheel bearing.

But now I can’t get the drum back on! The shoes are blocking it because the wheel cylinder is seized! I can’t get the WC off because all the bolts are rusted and stripped! If I’m lucky, I can cut it off, but I don’t want to cut any of the brake lines (one connects to the WC)

The cylinder is seized, so I take it you haven’t had rear brakes on that side? Or did it seize weirdly when everything was taken apart?

I’m also assuming the e-brake doesn’t actuate something on the cylinder, as happens sometimes. What’s the adjustment mechanism?

If you can get the connection into the wheel cylinder loose, you’ll be doing good. If you can’t, then you’ll be replacing brake lines too. No fun. Start there. If you get that off, worse case is you grab a new backing plate and replace it all when you replace the wheel cylinder.

Also, can you find a rebuild kit for it?  Maybe you can pull apart the wheel cylinder and clean the two pistons and the bore so it slides again.  Then you just need to replace the seals.  No need to break apart the brake line or remove the cylinder body.

Pop the rubber caps off and try to C-clamp, or use a big pair of channel locks to move the pistons, likely one of them will move.  Remove that one and hammer out the stick one.  Maybe you can clean up the surfaces to get the pistons to move again....  but I forgot about the bleeder screw.  That’s what will likely hang you up, if you can’t get that out without breaking it, you’re looking at a new wheel cylinder anyway.

Sounds like you’ll be getting rid of the rear drums and doing a four wheel disc conversion.
