I’m not so sure, but maybe. I mean, you can buy a brand new Tacoma double cab for $35k. All the suspension and armor upgrades brand new can’t be more than $20k. That leaves you with $30k for the camper shell and other accessories and you have a new $85k truck, instead one with 115k miles on it.
I guess if you are trying to spend $100k on upgrades, it might be doable, but it is still insane. Better of saving for an EarthRoamer at that point :), like this used baby for $160k

damn... cool rig but crazy pricing. Those 115k miles are pretty hard miles too... I would have pegged it at half that.

Imagine spending $82,500 for a vehicle that starts with this.

If you actually read the ad... there’s no way the suspension, armour and driveline modifications could be done for twenty grand. The rear axle alone must’ve been damn close to five grand as it is!
It's too rich for me but that doesn't make it CP.

I disagree, big time. Lesson one in car selling world - your upgrades, the ones you’ve been using for 30k miles don’t translate dollar for dollar when you’re trying to sell.

I don’t really care about the key on something that’s supposed to be a tool. I care more about the fact that the car has 115k miles and they want so much money for it. It’s a $25k truck with $60k in used parts on it.

Same here, if even.

This is the problem with the used Tacoma market. People will see this and think they are justified in asking 35k for a 2015 truck with 100,000 miles and no mods. Also just because he may have put that kind of money into the truck and mods doesn’t mean you can get that back in resale. To me this is exactly like putting the same amount of money into performance mods for a sporty car.

Exactly. It’s like he’s selling a used car but he wants dollar for dollar back on the upgrades he used for 115k miles, or 30k miles since he updated them.

Sweet wheels, buy it and point it south.. I’m not sure it’s a good deal but the Ute look is in right now. Someone will probably pay it.
Plus points for the 2nd gen die hards..

I think a 30-40% reduction of retail cost would be fair for the upgrades.

No kidding. I don’t disagree with that at all.
Given that the owner claims to be into the Tacoma for $130K (ohmyinsertchosendeityhereheisnuts ) and looking to get ‘only’ $80K out of it then that’s potentially a fair discount.
My question to you is could you build that same rig for $80K...

But still, imagine spending that much money for your key to look like it’s from a 1996 Toyota Corolla with manual locks and paint fade.

Same , maybe not. But something capable enough for anything any trail can throw at you, for $45000 over the price of a brand new Tacoma DC, for sure.

Real question is what he’s replacing it with. This truck does look familiar to me, I’ve either seen it in advertising or on Instagram.
