Interesting stuff on Flightaware. Big storms passing through Dallas, and major delays at DFW. Every blue plane you see on this map is one that is trying to land at DFW. You can see a few racetrack holding patterns going on, and a few “nop es” as planes turn away. Earlier today I saw an AA777 arriving from Hong Kong that had diverted to Austin. I’m sure the ATC folks have their hands full.

Now you’ve got me surfing flightaware. I learned there is a direct flight to Dublin Ireland from SeaTac and its 10 hrs.... I would love to go to Ireland.

That’s an interesting route. Growing up with a Mercator map makes these sorts of routes difficult to imagine.

Weird, haven't seen any rain so far today here in North Dallas. TV was blaring about a tornado warning but it's surprisingly calm. Guess it might be one of those calm before the storm? I'm not from around here and only in for work so it's interesting. Hopefully don't wake up in the middle of the night to a freight train rolling through my hotel room lol.

I flew to London when I was a teenager and I think it was 8.5 hrs in a 747. This is an A330 so probably comparable speed and comfort wise.

Probably just not there yet.

Icelandair flies SeaTac to Iceland, and I think they still do it with a 757. Long way for a narrow body jet.

Ireland is an A330. I don’t think I’ve ever been on a 757.

Another fun day of airline travel for a lot of people. Blech.

Delays like this are the worst. I was thinking about those people who flew all the way from Hong Kong only to divert to Austin. I wonder how long they had to stay, and if they were even able to get off the plane.

Yeah, that would be awful. Good chance the pax were stuck on the airplane.
