I have to pick an edge finish for the granite countertop in the bathroom (this is just an example, and not the stone I chose). We have a version of the first one in the kitchen. You can get others, but these are the ones that are included. Other profiles cost money, and I’ve spent enough money.

I think he means that if you slip and hit your head on an edge, better for it to at least not be a sharp one.

I think it’s because if you slip on the floor and hit your arm - or worse, head - on the edge, it’ll hurt less if it’s round not sharp. That said, we have the sharp corners and haven’t died yet.

I like the look of the square, but I would probably go with #2 from the left. This is what the owner installed in my place and it’s pretty nice to rest your hand on this rounded surface. Something that I do pretty often.

I’m no fan of 2, but it seems to be the popular choice so far. I was leaning towards 1. We have a similar finish to our kitchen countertop.

We picked #3 for our quartz in the kitchen and would never consider anything else.

3 will be the most timeless design. 2 is functionally the best — least likely to chip in an obvious spot due to lack of sharp edges.

No. 1.

3 seems popular but it looks too harsh to me.  2 reminds me too much of Formica/laminate countertops.  1 seems like a nice blend.

2 just feels dated to me. I was leaning towards 1. This is the piece of granite we are using. The small tiles are accents for the recessed niche over the tub.

You see, I agree about 2. It feels like my old formica kitchen, and looks dated to me. No. 1 seems like a good middle ground  between 2 and 3.

I don’t think you can go wrong with 1 or 3. They’re both like window casings or door frames — stuff you never really notice as long as they’re not obnoxious.

We have 2 in a bathroom and it works well but I’d never do it again. Simple reason is that it looks too much like faux-granite laminate with that rounded edge.

1, I was consulted to do this one as it’s the hardest of them to damage. 2 and 3 will chip easier on the hard corners. Plus it looks the most finished.

1. Looks great but allows things to run under the counter, making a mess later.

3. Looks like hell.

2. Give you the nice rounded look with the abrupt cutoff at the bottom to keep things from running under.

After having all three at some point in our lives, number #2 gives you the best combo of timeless looks and function.

Our last countertop was style #1, it was only about 2 years old, but the cupboards under it were rotted from water running under.

We got granite in our kitchen and, given a do-over, I’m not certain I would do again. Not without looking at alternatives, anyhow. My chief complaint is that liquid can freely run right off the front edge of the counter.
