I hope everyone had a good weekend! I forget who, but one of you recommended that I use Collinite 845 insulator wax. Thank you, it’s awesome! I accidentally packed in a ton of stuff this weekend and actually enjoyed it. I ordered a new set of bed rail caps and a small tool box for the Ranger last week. I always thought I hated the “EDGE” bed rail caps, but I kind of miss them. Next I drove, washed, and waxed the 02. I spent some quality time with my family, ran a 5k, cut the grass, went on a date, watched the GP, and played with the dogs. We’re going to be really busy every weekend from now until the end of June, so it was nice to get in a relaxing weekend while we can.

Tripper: *runs a 5k, maintains two vehicles, does family stuff and goes on a date*
Also Tripper: Yeah, it was nice to have a relaxing weekend.
Dang son, you and I have different definitions for relaxing.

Haha, well when I was not doing that other stuff I was on the couch.

845 is my favorite winter wax. the paint doesn’t pop as much as with NXT, but the 845 tends to stay on for a really long time for only needing a thin coat.

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with the rail caps. Unless they’ve made some design changes, t he new ones you added are almost guaranteed to rub through the paint, especially on the edges and on the outside corners.
It’s one of the first things I look for when evaluating used trucks.

Yea and the old ones came off clean. I’m considering painting the old ones and reinstalling. However, they will raise the tool box up 3-4 inches which I don’t really want.

I wo nder how hard it would be to shorten the old ones.

Definitely not hard, however I don’t love the way it looks.

Yup, haha just horrible. I’ll keep checking and if the paint starts to get damaged, I’ll put the old rails back on and build or buy a box that fits in the bed instead of on the rails.

I have been using the NXT for a while as it is relatively cheap, easy to apply and remove, and does its job for a couple of months. the 845 is right at the same price point and it appears you have had good results. How is applying it and how well does it work one on the car? Is it just shiny or does it kind of self wash when rained on like the NXT.
Tripper - that BMW paint is so deep I feel like its more the paint looking good than the 845 working magic. It looks really good.

it definitely helps the water bead up and roll right off better than the NXT. the NXT makes the paint look much better, so I use that for the summer.
