...and he was surprisingly nice about it. I’d done so in order to execute a prank in which I installed a bidet.

Had I been there to rob him I suspect he would have been less gracious about my intrusion.

So Oppos, what’s your favourite method to gain entry to the average suburban house?

I have been watching some lockpicking videos on Youtube from a guy who makes breaking most locks look super easy. I’ve also practiced many times in Skyrim/Oblivion. That’s probably a decent way to gain entry into most places.

Bidets are also great, had a cheap one put on my toilet and I really love it, although I’d love to have wiring setup so that I could get a proper Japanese toilet setup with the heated seat and heated water jet.

In an Australian brick veneer house, the easiest and quietest way  is to go straight through the wall...

I'm not able to enter a house without being invited in.

I can get into most houses in seconds with an old gift card if they don’t lock the deadbolt.

I have a friend who used to leave his house unlocked all day and who would tell coworkers to feel free to go in and borrow stuff (DVDs, beer, etc). He lived on-site at work, I should mention. I felt really awkward about it, only did it once. He has a big black Labrador who has to be the worst guard dog I’ve ever seen.

But since you’re a vampire you’re also dead, so you can take your time to be invited... We mortals can’t afford that luxury.

Bumping the lock will get you past about 90% of locks out there with virtually no skill or time required.  For houses, the vast majority of them one of about five key ways, not that you necessarily need an actual bump key. If you’ve got any key for that keyway, there’s a decent chance it will bump it.

The method that doesn’t get me shot by the owner or bit by their dog.

Interesting! I did have to bump using my cut key, as it only turned 2/3rds of the way by itself. Thankfully that got me in.

The other housemate? He uh... as far as I know, he remained unaware of the exact particulars regarding the installation. Ideally it will remain that way. :P

I was so devastated. That short hose cost me 25 minutes, I would have gotten away with it I reckon otherwise...

Prybar (to move bricks) and a sharp knife ( to cut building paper and dry wall) . It’s all you need. Apart from a truly broken set of ethics...

Basically you push the latch open with it since the normal latch can be pushed without turning the knob.
