I started swapping in the new headlights on the Rabbit last night, and the plugs on the headlights don’t match the ones on the car.

Kinja'd!!!

The real problem is ones has 3 wires on the headlight only has 2 plugs. If anyone has an idea of what’s going on here and how I could fix it that’d be great.

EDIT: so I’m a stoopid person. The treason that the blind don’t hook up is that there are no bulbs, behind that spring is just a dust cover, that’s where the bulb goes.   And the plug that is there is for a small running light. duuuuh apparently I was too tired to figure that out last night

Hears a close up on how awful the old lights are

Your car most likely takes an H4/9003 bulb, but the bulbs you got look like H7 bulbs. You can buy an adapter like this and wire it into your harness.

Huge improvement. Nice.

Is it a single filament light?

If it is a single filament light then just hook it up to the ground and the low wire from the switch.

That seems pretty easy, but I’m worried that I won’t have high beams,

You’re best bet is to find an actual H4/9003 bulb to swap in there.

I’m actually a big dummy. That plug is for the running light. The housings don’t have a bulb in them and there was just a little dust cover for shipping where the bulb goes. So I just need to pick up some H4 bulbs. Not the ones that were in the car tho, those are cheap blue  HIDs.
