Awesome! I’ve heard nothing but good things about the Dallas area (especially if you don’t have to deal with the traffic). I was thinking “North Texas” like Lubbock or Amarillo. This should be fun, and easy enough to fly home regularly and cheaply. Congratulations!

Awesome. Dallas has become a really neat city somewhere along the line. There’s a cold beer/healthy treat of your choice on the off chance that road trip took you far enough S outh into my area.

Congrats to your kid. That’s awesome!
My best advice that I give to everyone going to college is to just go to freaking class and do the work. It’s really not that hard. Otherwise you find yourself on a nuclear submarine and don’t end up graduating college until you’re almost 30 . Not that I know anything about that.

Oh wow, that is a high-caliber program. Congratulations to him (and you!) !
Denton is a strange little town, but fun and pleasant!

Congrats! Make sure he damn-well knows he has a rare opportunity to get accepted into a big college like UNT and to not squander it! He can still have fun but studies come first! As a semi-recent (~3 years) graduate, there’re a LOT of distractions there and I hope he’s able to prioritize things correctly.

Dallas area oppo meetup! I’m around until late August, when I cease being a Texan and become ... Florida man!

I’m actually in Las Cruces, NM, but my best friend lives in Dallas. I don’t have any specific plans at the moment, but I’d like to get out there to see him sometime this year.

Tell him to stay away from the reefer. Texas don’t play.

Funny, I grew up in the Austin area and have lived in Houston for almost 20 years, and I hear almost nothing good about Dallas.... (kidding of course....mostly)

Actually in Dallas you need to watch out for tornadoes much more than floods, those things are no joke. You get slightly more notice for those than an earthquake though, so there is that.
