That first pic, #5, reminded me of one of the reasons my dad told me not to buy the 914, back in 1996. “You can’t lug that engine.”

And I’m like, what does that even mean? And I’ve been driving an RX7 for the last 3 years, what do you think I’m looking for, a stump-puller?

I thought it was in this booklet, but maybe not, that lugging gives the engine more fuel than it can burn (ie. wide open throttle at low rpms). It’s particularly bad for engines with roller bearings and few cylinders, as each power impulse delivers a “hammer blow” to the bearings - the early Porsche roller crank engines gave rise to the idea that all Porsche engines needed to be rev’d to infinity.

Neat brochure!

Why is extended coasting bad? At least, that’s what the note on that segment seems to indicate.
