Not a real truck!

First new vehicle I’ve ever purchased. I figure turning 40 is an appropriate time to splurge a little.

Nice! My mom’s CR-V has been fantastic, and a Ridgeline would’ve been a choice for my dad if they were cheaper/had better deals. Which dealer did you get it from?

Congrats! How’s the rear seat room? I’ve never sat in one so I’m curious how it would compare to the other midsizers.

Congratulations! Is this just for hauling stuff and/or looking to put fewer miles on the M3?

Thanks, it’s decent with the front seat adjusted for me at 5'10". The rear seats are kind of hard, so I wouldn’t want to sit back there for more than an hour myself.

Yeah, they just recently started discounting them. Though they don’t advertise it, but you can get $4k off without trying very hard. I got it from Nalley. I tried to buy one from Honda C arland since they are closer but they seemed uninterested in selling me one.

My dad’s Canyon was like $8,000 off, though, but it was a demo, too. Budget was $30,000. I was thinking Carland or Hennessy for you; Nalley is pretty far south. I’m glad you got a decent deal, though!

My DD is a CRV, I have thought about those for a replacement at some point. I could get my kayak in it with my bed extender.

It may not be a ‘real’ truck, but it’s probably enough truck for 90% of truck buyers, if they could just get past the stigmas associated with that vehicle.

Congrats - it looks like you made a good choice.

Ridgelines are great. My parents bought an ‘07 when new and I ended up borrowing it a lot.

Thanks! I love it, I don’t think I could sit in a real truck 2 hrs every day. This is more l uxurious than my old MDX it replac es.

Yeah I didn’t plan on going that far, but they had the best price (or so I thought) . I wouldn’t really recommend them still. They treat every new vehicle with some BS nano coating when it comes in. They try to charge $900 extra for it, but un like the wheel locks, you can’t tell them to take it off. Took me 2 hrs of being stub born (at one point I was about to walk out) for them to remove that add- on off the price.

You could. They also have roof rails available if you want to mount stuff up there.

DD duty when its raining, and for hauling stuff. I’ll drive the M3 if it’s not going to rain that day,  since it gets to park i n the garage and stay clean.

Y eah and I like the bed storage. I have my 1952 Dodge M37 truck coming along but that is not a long range truck, no way my wife is going in an old military truck all the way up to Tahoe. But we could bring the kayak to Tahoe with this, it’s too big for the roof of the CRV. So I see it as a CRV with a bed, I don’t need the enclosed back of the CRV in particular so it would be fine. I don’t want a Tacoma that gets worse MPGs, I have a serious truck if I need it, I need my DD to be practical and the ability to carry the kayak would be great. I have never worked for Honda for the shows, but I assume it’s just like driving any other Honda.

It’s a CRV with a bed and that is great for me, I need to get good mileage. I have a 1952 Dodge that gets 10mpg if I want to rip a stump out of the ground!

nice - congrats.  I worked with a lady who has an orig I6 Z3, an M3 and her husband recently got a Grand Sport Vette, but they normally drive their Ridgeline, like that one but blue.  Nice, very functional rigs.

It’s pretty much just like driving a Pilot. Only real difference is this has their old 6spd trans instead of the ZF 9spd. Which in my opinion makes for a better driving experience. The 9spd felt weird to me. Too many gear changes  to maximize fuel economy.

I drive the CRV so I can have three older vehicles, otherwise I guess I would just have one much better  car, if I were normal... the crv should last a long time.... I was thinking of a Delica or something but the pickup bed is looking useful since it gets better MPG.

There’s something nice about being able to switch between vehicles. Driving the same vehicle everyday can get boring. Most of my friends that only have one,   get a new vehicle every 2-3 years. I think I’m good for probably the next 10 years.

Well if you are here you are probably more like me than the normies out there. I purposely have very different vehicles, I sometimes have to think about it when I drive because they are so different I reach for something and it either doesn’t have it or it’s not in the same place, I can only imagine what Leno goes through! I could only drive two of them to work, the others would be insane/uncomfortable or very difficult to drive going into SF.

I have one of these Yakima Long Arms to get my sailing kayak more secure in the Dodge M37, the bed on the weapons carrier trucks are not huge, I think it’s a little less that seven feet, so I got this to relieve stress on my hull. But my truck is taking longer than I thought, I was busier and my friend with a shop had some premium clients to take care of first. My discounted ass is not first in line!

That could come in very handy. I once had a 66 F100 with a 8ft bed. It barely fit in my garage, but it was nice to have a bed that you didn’t have to put the tailgate down to haul most things.
