After 6 years of ownership, I’m finally getting some fresh paint on my house.

Kinja'd!!!

It has beige vinyl siding, and all the original wood trim is painted beige as well. I’m repainting the siding light grey (it wil be a bit darker than in the pics when dry) with a special siding-safe color. The trim will be a medium-dark grey with the details picked out in a wine red.

I need to beg/borrow/buy a 25+ foot extension ladder to be able to work on the other two walls of the house.

How well does painting vinyl hold up? I’m considering doing it to mine come the fall.

Borrow or rent a sprayer. It makes things so so much easier. I painted our entire house minus the trim in a day with a sprayer. The trim took a while though, trim work sucks.

I can’t find any solid answers to that, but with th e right vinyl-safe colors it shouldn’t affect the siding itself. So I figure it’ll last as long as any other paint job, and for a fraction of re-siding my house.

And whenever it needs a repaint I can decide then if I want to paint it again or if I want to replace the siding.

I did use a sprayer. It is visible in both photos.

I bought my house ten years ago from the original owner who built it in 1958. For some reason, she put a wood shell around the house about twenty or thirty years ago. I finally got around to removing the ugly wood shell, filled with flammable insulation, revealing the beautiful brick underneath. It appears they experimented with painting the house a few different colors before installing the shell, so now I need to paint everything. I’m going with white and a colorful trim in order to keep the  house cool during the summer.
