One of the best detailers in the area did the work. Looking at his Instagram, the ISF was in good hands. Not shown is the GT2RS, Merc Maybach, and many other super high end cars have been fixed by him.

I need to do this.. My paint is bright enough that when it’s clean, it’s too shinny to see most of the damage but once a layer of dust coats the car (always bc I don’t wash it as often as I should) it cuts some of the shine and you can see the imperfections. Single stage paint is beautiful, but a major pita haha

Chris Marlin is the detailer so I had to pull it up by the only hashtag only he would use haha.

Does he have a team or something?  My detailer is taking my GS for a week in June for paint correction and ceramic coating.

What brand of coating did he use?

I think we talked about it, but I’m willing to work on it and coat it. Depending on how much is left I’d rather just do a light polishing and then coat it.

Yeah, we talked about it and I am still down if you are. In most spots, the damage seems pretty light, but I do know the paint is thin in a few areas from being polished for 28 years. Something light should do the job, but you can see for yourself at the meet-up.

Oh good idea! I’m not too far from Neptune’s Net so you can actually come back with me and I can an in-depth analysis, and depending on the weather I can do a quick wash and spray on coating. Something is always better than nothing.

But if the paint is super thin I would recommend putting down Clear Bra. And one I crawl myself back out of another hole I’m going to test out installing custom panels on the e-Golfs. And once I’m comfortable with that I can just Clear Bar your Ferrari. I’d rather spend my time on that than a coating.I haven’t been too thrilled with the durability of the coatings I’ve been using, I’m constantly having to top it off with something. And that’s fine for me since I’m equipped for it, but less so for you being so far away.

Yeah, ideally, I’d like a super hardcore ceramic coating. Not as worried about rock chips bc they are already there and I occasionally drive the car haha

We can take a look though!

Ceramic coatings aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. In the real world, they don’t prevent any scratching or even micro marring you can get from washing your car to vigorously . And if your paint is super thin that’s why clear bra would be best as it freezes the paint in place.

Oh nice. I have Gtechniq on my car. I also have most of their catalog of products.

I don’t know if he did the wheels but how  do you like it? Is it rinse and good?

If he put Exo over the Crystal Serum then you can do a foam layer and then pressure rinse off, but only for light dusting and such. If it has heavy grime, or it rained, always do a hand wash.

I use a Griot’s Boss Foam cannon with Gtechniq W4 Citrus Foam and foam it dry and let it dwell for a minute.

Rinse off, and done. If you’re using DI water.

Since I’m out in Southern California and my water SUCKS there are companies that have DI exchange tanks, so I’ve got a huge tank I run all my car washing water through to get pure DI water so I never have to dry the cars, I just blow them off and let them air dry. If you don’t have any companies out there that do that you can order something like this , and depending on your water quality can get thousands of gallons out one tank. (I use about 500 gallons a quarter washing the cars once a week).

When you need to hand wash it, always use the three bucket method (rinse, wash, wheels). And always use a drying aid. Gtechniq C2 is made for their coatings, but honestly, I’m not a fan of it. I use CarPro Reload . It is basically a coating topper, but you can dilute it as needed to use just as a drying aid. Also only use Gtechniq G Wash for the shampoo.

And if he didn’t do the wheels you can do it yourself. I have C 5 Wheel Amour on my cars and it makes things so much easier. You still need to use a good wheel cleaner like Sonax Full Effect .

As I run my own detailing service out here in my area I have a business account with Detailed Image and can send you an order of stuff at a discount if you’d like.

I have two buckets and then separate tools just for the wheels. The biggest problem here is pollen usually

We had a shit load of pollen this year, which I’ve never seen, and it drove me nuts. And nothing I tried reduced the static cling of the car, so I had to live with it.
