Merlins aren’t just for Mustangs.

Explanation : Twenty seven Merlin rocket engines are firing in this !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of a Falcon Heavy rocket. Derived from three !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! first stage rockets with nine Merlin rocket engines each, the Falcon Heavy left NASA’s Kennedy Space Center launch pad 39A on April 11. Firepower isn't magic. It's just a bigger gun.

The core stage landed off shore on autonomous spaceport drone ship Of Course I Still Love You .

And then fell off in rough seas before it could be secured. One of these days they’ll get the whole thing down.

I really hope that when/if we find some other propulsion system to get us to space, it has the same level of theatrics to it.  It’s neat having machines that are mind bendingly powerful and let you know it.

There is a bot on the flattops to hold onto the boosters, but it hadn’t been modified yet for the FH boosters. They were planning on manually fastening the booster to the deck, as they had with the early F9 flights, but the rough seas made that impossible. As it was, the booster only fell over:

It’ll never fly again, but at least they can salvage some parts.

I watched a video of the Arabsat launch and booster recovery. It truly is amazing to me how those two boosters can land with such accuracy and at the same time, upright no less.

SpaceX is obviously using a better version of self-driving software than Tesla...

That’s true. They were used, in amongst other plane s, the Lancaster.
