Great read. I am about... Three books behind in what my goal for reading is this year. But anyway, if you enjoy Canada and Rick Mercer, this is a collection of rants and some snippets from behind the scenes of the show.
What has everyone been reading lately?

Is it a heavy read? I watched Rick Mercer compulsively in University with my friends.

Not at all. Being a collection of rants from the alley and a few stories from the road, it’s really just one pagers all the way through. All of it perspectives on Canada or American politics, of course.

I’m reading B. Traven’s Death Ship. Lonely are the Brave is one of my favorite movies (and also shot and set in Albuquerque in the early 60's), and while it is most directly an adaptation of an Edward Abbey’s The Brave Cowboy , both also borrow thematically (and directly in the case of some lines from the movie) from B. Traven’s earlier novel. Not the fastest read with the protagonist often speaking in a stylized voice of yore, but certainly an interesting and often withering critique of nationalism, class inequality and bureaucratic authority.

I’ve been listening to a lot of standup lately and thinking about just this. It’s because they over-simplify situations so as to make their answers to them seem obvious. It helps that they have an audience that is predisposed to their thought process by virtue of having bought a ticket.
