Bike update: welded up a new exhaust. I love it. Very evocative of the cylinders sticking out the side of the bike. Sounds a bit more sporty than harley, and is dead silent at idle. Downside: more backpressure results in the bike running HILARIOUSLY rich now, so I get to play Musical Jets. Yaaaay.

Of course I might not get to play anything here. My insurance expired today and the cost has tripled and I just straight up can’t afford it. Gonna meet with my broker today to explore options... fun times.

Wow what state do you live in? Insurance has always been about $10-15 every bike I’ve had. NY is expensive in many ways but it sounds like I have at least something to be thankful for

The exhaust looks sweet though... hope you can keep it on the road

My wife had three at-fault accidents last year within a month and a half. Now it’s renewal time and I’m getting it right up the poop chute. Bike insurance went from “yeah that’s okay” to pretty difficult to justify for a hobby, and since it’s a lump sum I just straight-up don’t have it right now. ($25 0/yr to $800/yr)

Not to mention my car insurance will likely do the same thing next month , which means I’ll be paying nearly $330/mo for liability coverage on two 20 year old T oyotas.

spike.

My insurance for my daytona (in ontario, canada) is $1750 for the year. and that is CHEAP. Most 24 year olds I know on SS are paying north of 3K a year

Well hello to you too...

I should add I’ve never had a nice bike. It’s always been 40+ year old bikes ranging from 360cc - 750cc. But yeah even when I first got a bike at 17 my insurance was only like $30 a month. No idea what it would cost if I had a nice sport bike and also wanted comprehensive insurance, although I’d bet it’s still less than that
