So our little 1992 Caravan is quite nice, but 27 years of use have left their “dinge” on the inside ( and peel on the outside ). I decided Sunday morning that getting rid of this dinge was in order.

So, out came the seats:

So I whipped up a concoction of cleaner: Norwex laundry soap, Norwex stain remover, and a little Auto Armor carpet cleaner. Then I set to work.

I got the rear benches scrubbed down first:

With those looking like brand new, I set to cleaning the front:

Then I cleaned/reinstalled seats as I went, working front to back:

You can see the dinge line about mid floor where I was working back.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

She looks almost new inside now! Only took about 3 hrs of good scrubbing, but the end result was well worth the time.

We just drove from CapeCod/ Boston area to Lake Champlain and back. 4 hours each way with 3 kids. My wife’s van is a thing of nightmares. right now.

Nicely done. The only thing automotive related I accomplished this weekend was fixing the interior door handle on my F150...the sheet metal apparently didn’t like holding the handle in place any more.

I love the red interiors. I’ve yet to own one though.

We take the kids everywhere in both vans. I’m very anal about keeping my vehicles clean and the kids help clean their crap out when we get home, so my vehicles never look too bad ( in reality they almost always look better than most people’s vehicles inside ).

yea, there is a huge difference between my vehicle and my wife’s. Its also kinda hard to tell my 2 y/o not to make a mess.  The older ones are ok

Eh, kids got a sippy cup at younger ages, beyond that, major messes were left for when we stopped to pee/eat/gas/etc. I see no need to take tons of messy things in the vehicle, it’s not like we’re making the trip without stopping anyway.

Oh man. We had one of these for ages. I know what every surface in there feels like, haha.

Well done. I did the same for my mom’s car last summer. It’s really satisfying.

Those seat mounting points bring back a memory. In 1992, I was a teen , and my somewhat elderly neighbor had a new SWB Caravan, in that 90s “black cherry” kind of color, I think with a dark red interior.  He couldn’t remove the seats by himself, so he’d ask me to help him.  He’d also pay me $40 to wax the van a few times a year, and I jumped on that offer.

I love the removable /interchangeable seating. Eas ily configured  for whatever you need to do, yet plenty of open space under the seats for Home Depot runs without needing to lose seating area.
