It’s a good walk. Is he starting at St. Bede’s?

Steel Rigg is lovely, it's just on the border of Cumbria and Northumberland. Birdoswald and Vindolanda are places he'll have to check out.

They are doing the full eight or nine day hike, East to West, s tarting near Newcastle I believe. I asked if there was an ATV option, but never got an answer. (that’ s too much walking for me!)

ATVs are a no. It’s a world heritage site. It’s only 84 miles total from Wallsend on the east coast through to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast.

Make sure he knows not to walk on the wall as that’ll him into bother with the locals and English Heritage.

At Vindolanda they built a small mock up of a temple, it's like a large gazebo really but gives you an idea of the structure.

Yeah, I was only joking, as what I meant was that I didn’t want to do all that hiking, I’d rather walk the wall for a day or two and then hit the pubs or the links a few of the days .

His group is very historically minded (hence the choice to walk the wall for a vacation ) , I imagine they’ll respectfully follow any rules.

Ye’, no worries mate, I know you were.

It's a good walk and thankfully quite a few pubs on the way.
