Exposed logs, stuffed cats, and a custom fire place.

Dat view!!!
Aerial view of location.

Fuck. Why isn’t that range centered between the windows? What the hell is wrong with them.
![]() 04/18/2019 at 13:56 |

But then the ducting wouldn’t be centered between the beams!

I was ready to scoff at an inflated price, but I really can’t once I see what you’re getting.

It’s pretty darn nice and the view isn’t bad at all. My house is almost directly across the lake from this place except we can’t see the lake in the summer when all the trees leaf out.
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:06 |

The house was doomed from the getgo. Someone screwed up at some point I bet. It just looks sooooo bad.
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:07 |

You could probably live in it for 6 months before anyone discovered you were there.

Because you need to run electric to the fan/hood, and have a back-splash for when you cook the greasy foods. And most food prep is done near or over the sink, so that is the part of the kitchen that typically has the view and windows.

Wrong side of the lake; too far from the ski hill
Here is one on the east side of the lake with one more bed and bath, and a dock, for just over half the price.

People will pay a lot to see the lake from their windows, what ever the lake in question . So, on the lake is always exponentially more expensive than “lake access”. But I think you still get a lot of value if you’re near but not on. The water makes its presence known in the air and the sounds. It can be very soothing, even if you can’t see it directly from your living room.

It can make all the sense in the world, but it looks like shit, whoever designed this house screwed the pooch (in my book).
Reconfigure the beams, center the stove, put the sink in island.

Wood. Antlers. Fish. How cliche can this possibly get?

If I crawl up on my roof I can see it pretty well. I think we need to build a crows next up there for better views...

I’m confused - how big is the lot?
Found it: 26 acres.

What £3.5million will get you in my county.
Nine bedroom detached house dating back to the 15th century, remodelled in the Georgian era, during the 1800s. The grounds comprise 34 acres of land, mostly woodland, 500 metres of shoreline on the lake with several barns, outbuildings and House Keepers cottage, boathouse with wet dock,

When I spend $4 million on a house, it’s definitely going to have more than a two-car garage .
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:47 |

Here $3.75 mil will get you... a half acre lot :
Okay maybe that’s a bit silly. Here’s one that’s more comparable :

Zoning in this area is maximum 2 Acres, so probably worth it.
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:50 |

Near me you could have this . A 3 bedroom ranch, 2 car garage, large in-ground heated pool/hot tub, and... an 8-unit motel plus 16 detached cottages, all situated on 8 acres and 348' of waterfront on a 295-acre pond.
All this for just $1.1 million.

I’m assuming that place comes with a driver, house keeper, grounds keeper and a guy named Charlie who does your odd jobs
.

If you’re by the sea that’s called a widow’s walk, as that’s where the wives of mariners would pace anxiously to see if the the masts of their husband’s ships appear on the horizon.

When I spend $4m on a house, I better have gotten filthy rich in the mean while.

This place will be under water in about 25-50 years. Unless they build a wall. A sea wall that is.

No. Lol. Almost no houses like this have staff other than maybe a cleaner that goes in once or twice a week (a friend of mine cleans for an estate like this), a grounds keeper who also does odd jobs around the building and makes sure everything is sound while the family are there or away.
I quite like this one much closer to home.
This one is a four bedroom house in Wreay, just a three miles south of me so has great access to the lake district, rail and motorway links with a local airport not far north which will soon be an international airport. 0.8 acres of land.
£650,000.
Best part, a sizeable garage.

I prefer that one, though I might do something to dress up the main facade - maybe a balustrade around the roof.

I liked going to lodge style homes. Normally pretty easy work, but with a good paycheck at the end. And more cats and dogs than even the typical PNW home, which was always a plus!

Like a rich Californian who moved to Montana is going to know how to shoot anything...
I once trained with some Montana boys, but they weren’t living in mansions designed by the interior decorator for Cabelas.

This is right next to a big beautiful lake, but on a quiet pond. The pond is nice and all, but you really want to be on the lake. I can’t help but think of Caddy Shack, “I’ve got a pool, and a pond. The pond would be good for you.”
