Dat’s a nice box. Did you save it? It will be a collector’s item in 25 years.

Looks like some kind of dagger with blood all over it. And a hair metal band.
Motley Crate?

Looks like a turbo encabulator. Or is that a flux capacitor? Either way, it looks expensive.

I though those things never break and never need maintenance ever all hail King Elon.

What is that metal line for? Is there coolant?
Also, more shop posts plz

Nah. Had to go back for warranty with the old motor.

Nailed it. Your assessment, not the crate.

Oops!

There is coolant. This is actually three parts in one. Electric motor. Transmission. And control unit for electric motor. The motor and control unit both have coolant flowing through them. The transmission has oil.

Umbrella.

This shit is exactly why I laugh my ass off at people claiming the Tesla motors are “only 70lbs.”
That is not how you ship a 70lbs unit.

I love using large motors as umbrellas!
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:16 |

Lol yeah way more than 70lbs! Three guys could maybe lift this, but not safely. Engine hoist required.

Oh, I thought one of the benefits of electric motors was that there’s so much torque you don’t need a transmission. Or is that just a fixed gearbox to step down the RPMs?
![]() 04/18/2019 at 14:29 |

Ayup! And if it was only 140lbs it sure as hell wouldn’t use screws instead of nails, much less wood half that thick. Probably a good 300-350lbs minimum.
Two per car, yeah?
![]() 04/18/2019 at 15:32 |

B-class, just one in the front. The battery is probably twice as heavy.

Single speed/differential thingamajig. Nothing fancy. "Transmission" is a vast overstatement, but that's what it's called.
![]() 04/18/2019 at 21:05 |

That would put it right around 275-300lbs give or take a few.

I would guess 250. I should’ve looked at the crate. I think the batteries are 450-500 IIRC.
