I rode in my coworker's 4Runner Limited.

First thing’s first, I though he said 170k miles. I was wrong... It was only 107k miles While not flawless, I’m pretty sure you couldn’t find a better one, certainly not with the miles to boot.

Moving on, it was the sort of brown-ish beige tanish brown brown interior with faux wood grain. I was comfy, rode nice, but still very truck-like (which I enjoy). He has 4th gen wheels and a 5" lift. I’m not a short guy but man it felt like climbing to get in the seat. But all in all, very enjoyable and he loves it.

Speaking for my own potential ownership, I’m not sure. I don’t have children and I don’t have friends, so it still seems that a truck is much more suited for my lifestyle versus an SUV. I think I still enjoyed the T100 or early Tundra a bit more. Still haven’t been in a Land Cruiser. Maybe someday. Or never.

Is that it? If so, I need to steal the flares.

3rd gens are great. They’re getting pretty hard to find without rust or lots of deferred maintenance though.

Prices are wacky too, would  rather get a 4th gen sometimes.

Keep in mind, 4Runner’s of that era have a lot of ground clearance(from the bottom of the cab at least)  from the factory, so any lift makes that climb significantly worse.

You know, it’s none of my business but I’ll ask anyway , but do you and your wife want to make some little space crabs in the future?

You’ve never been in a Land Cruiser? I should have made good on my standing threat to bring my wet-dog-smelling, beat-up FJ80 to an O ppo meet before I sold it.

...a nd then if you had bought it from me you could have been bitching on this here blog about something I never got around to fixing, or bodged poorly.

I had a 3rd gen limited just like that for about four years. I upsized the tires and ditched the running boards, but i didn’t have a lift. It was a great SUV. I took mine from 112k to 200k + miles before trading it in. Literally no major repairs in four years aside from brakes. Its was dead reliable. I genuinely miss that roll down window in the back.

Try a land cruiser.. you wont go back. It’s an amazing vehicle. Just bought a 2000 LC and I cant wait to drive it every single day. Mpg is bad but I can deal with it being I bought it for $5k. You can do anything with it.. Kids or no kids.
