Hey guys, I’m going with my girlfriend today to look at this

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Manual Jeep Wrangler, her dream car basically. Obviously rust is the main issue to check for, along with all the other used car stuff, but is there any jeep or model specific stuff I should be making sure to keep in mind? Are these generally reliable/easy enough to find parts?

I appreciate any help!

Wait, why are you not married yet?

As long as the frame rust called out in the ad isn’t too bad, could be a nice buy.

Obviously because he knows that marriage is a legal system money racket that provides no meaningful benefit.

Check it over for rust, and whip out the wallet. I haven’t seen a 4.0-equipped TJ for that cheap since... ever.

Well, it’s much easier than drawing up all the necessary paperwork to make sure that you can see your loved one in the hospital, that you can make quality of life decisions for them, etc.

(Yes, I’m old. No, I’m no longer married.)

Parts are easy. Don’t be overly alarmed by any lifter noise: the 4.0 is infamous for that.

It’s also infamous for running very hot: my 3rd cylinder ran so hot that my fuel injector got clogged and I started stalling badly and getting a misfire. New fuel injectors and heat shielding has kept that at bay.

Even an engine replacement isn’t all that hard, there are plenty of 4.0s out there whose body has rusted away from underneath them. As long as the frame is in good shape, pretty much anything else can be fixed later without too crazy a budget.

(I spent over 10k  in 2016 on mine, but that was a comedy of errors and poor mechanical advice and unlikely to be repeated.)

Awesome that gives me hope. Found an awesome one on craigslist yesterday that was super clean but it was being bought as I texted the guy. Definitely will post if we end up finding a good one and she buys it
