I’m taking a 2 day basic rider course at the end of the month.
I’m picking up gloves and boots this weekend. Anything else I should consider or know before I take the class?
MT07 for your time

Have fun! You should be good to go, they provide just about everything, great program

Mmmmmm... FZ/MT-07s make such good noises with an exhaust.

Good quality riding gear can often have a bit of mass at first, but it breathes better than garden/construction gear. So if this is for you, yeah it will be a bit awkward at first, but gear designed for riders is actually quite comfortable to wear at speed.
Don’t know what all you’re buying but that’s what I would look into.
Oh, and ridersdiscount.com (and their ebay store!) have excellent deals for basic gear and parts for common bikes.

You’ll have fun, enjoy it. I remember when I did mine years ago, it was at first nervewracking, but then was quite enjoyable.

Have fun! What state are you in? I took Ohio’s course last summer. It was a blast. Only things I had to bring with me were long pants/long sleeves, gloves, boots, and eye protection, because the helmets they provided didn’t have eye shields.

But a helmet new. All other gear can be got second hand so long as it isn’t decades old and clearly been used in a fall.
Heaps of people sell gear after riding for only a season and giving up on bikes.
Everything else you’ll learn at the course. Have fun and keep your head up.

Is it just me or it a little farty? I do like the snaps on gear change though.

I don’t know, I have an XSR900 (~FZ-09) not an FZ-07.

Pretend you’re Lightning McQueen, turn right to go left, turn left to go right, and full throttle all the time to keep all 125cc’s from stalling!
For real though, just r elax , pay attention, and have fun!

I’m in Georgia. They listed the same requirements except for the eye protection, so hopefully they provide that

It it may be awhile before I buy any gear. The only thing I need before the class is gloves, boots, long clothing, and a bandana. Not sure why I need the bandana yet. Ha

I was planning on doing some sick stunts yo, but apparently that will get me kicked out.
I’m a little anxious just thinking about it, but this i s something I’ve wanted to do since I learned it was a thing a long time ago.

It’s good to be a little nervous. But these classes are usually run very well. They'll take care of you. What you should worry about is motorcycles ruining cars for you!

That is a small concern but I'm sure my fiance will do everything in her power to make sure I don't get a bike in the next year. Ha

Boo! Get her on one too!

I'd bring a set if you have em. I brought a set of sunglasses as well as clear safety glasses. Dust in your eyes and motorcycles don't go well together.

Hey now, I took Ohio's class on a TW200, thank you very much. 200cc of PURE ANGER.

200!? That's pure madness!

I tried and she seemed into it but she's worried she'll like it and she is 100% opposed to the idea for herself on the basis of risk vs. Reward.

Thanks for the advice!

Get her an airbag suit!

Do those actually work? They look pretty cool

Just ask any Moto GP racer who’s gone down at speed!

A few employees at the Ducati dealer, but that’s it. They do a lot of track days. One guy has actually gone down wearing the dainese one. They all said they're fantastic.
