!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Here it is, tarted up with wheels, lights and extra macho fake vents that might not be available as options. So this will look even more underwhelming in showrooms.

A utomakers are taking inspiration from color charts for their line up.

All in all, t here are now roughly 327 car models between a hat chback and a full size SUV.

The new age of cars has really brought us the fastest and the most boring cars at the same time.

That looks awful. If you’re going to make something boxy why wouldn’t you make it look like a mini G- Wagon?

I agree.

Then we would have something like the new Samurai.

German brands are niche-masters, one must give them that. This thing reinforces the quiet elegance of an E or C wagon.

The interior stitching and textures make me chuckle, a bit flamb oyant.

Not a fan of the slight upkick in the beltline at the back of the rear door where it leads into the rear quarter window. I think a team of especially boring stylists thinks it adds character and dynamism - some brands love an upkick which has no function (Toyolex).

I’m sure many people do.

It really isn’t my cup of tea.

I’m sorry, I really don’t see any elegance .

This thing got pretend macho chunk like the Renegade and many CUVs .

I agree with this assessment, including the terrible-name pun. For all the bluster manufactures are throwing around with rugged and off-road ready these are getting further and further all the time from something you should actually use off-road or in rugged environments . It’ s not that they couldn’t build a crossover this size with actually off-road chops...even mild ones... but they don’t, it’ s just lip service to pander to the prevailing trends.

Elegance is relative these days. There’s not much to be found in the CUV/SUV sphere, but a little in some cars.

Pretend macho sells big - frazzled Walter Mitty suburbanites driving between faceless subdivisions and anonymous office parks want to feel bold and adventurous. Also be sure to grow a beard, have a popular dog breed and talk about it constantly , “hike” now and then, be outdoorsy. It’s amusing in the PNW anyway.

yup. They took that hideous g-wagon concept and put it into production without any of the redeeming benefits .

Kinja'd!!!

Just a reminder this is what Germans think of American’s style preferences. It’s like a caricature of a caricature of american vehicles.

I agree, this sells. I don’t like pandering, but I also like money.

Mercedes is way richer than I am though.

I think Mazda (except for the CX-3) and Porsche are making the right kinda CUVs. Even though the Tuscon and F-Pace aren’t as good, their designs are just right. CUVs can be done right.

Let people buy real SUVs if they want off road chops. Also, let people buy real M, AMG and S/RS cars if they want vents and sporty looking cars.

Cut the fake shit.

(Sporty car or not, there is still no excuse for fake exhaust tips on cars .)

Pandering is profitable, the car business does it well.

I just don’t have much desire for a CUV. I am kind of in the car or real SUV camp, too. Some offend me less than others, Macan as you hinted at, and I don’t mind the GLC as it reminds me of a C wagon. But if I wanted something for off road, I’d get a G.

The toned down smaller engine M/S/AMG models can make me a little suspicious, too - but badges sell.

We need a parody car that intentionally comes s tock with all the things that car enthusiasts hate, just to see how much it sells.

It’s just a matter of time before we get S/M/AMG badges from the factory on cars with no tuning at all, right?
