How do you end up with a new production electric car whose design is a face-lifted and stretched DB9 from 2003?!?!?!

And the drive train comparable to the 2014 Model S with 65 kWh?!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

I was excited that Aston is making an electric Rapide. With the E Tron and Taycan giving Tesla a run for the money, Aston was the perfect candidate to make things spicier.

I mean look at the futuristic cars and concepts they just came out with! The Vanquish concept, AM-R B 003, Valkyrie, Lagonda!

What the hell happened?! I am disappoint.

It’s almost like they started with a design from 2006 based on a stretched DB9 and then shoehorned an electric drivetrain into it. You always compromise performance when you put an electric drivetrain into an existing design instead of developing a new electric platform.

Yes.....till it actually makes the AM RB 003 and the new Vanquish. I mean the new Vantage is pretty cool. I hope that’s what they base the next electric Rapide on.

They definitely had money to invest in new cars, but I see that most of it went to other projects - which turned out great!

I guess they bungled this one up.

I does look good. It does not look fresh and new though.

Aston charges a premium for design and panache. They missed on that “ bigly”.

So I am actually impressed by Aston , y ou have to remember they are tiny even compared to Tesla. They sold roughly 6500 cars last year . Tesla now sells that if not doubles/triples that in a month .

They have very little to go off. Ford did not exactly leave them in the best spot and the way it sounds they aren’t in the best position  with their loans and losses.

So I am in the boat that anything like this is a big leap for them. They are trying and not sitting back and waiting for help. P lus that face is pretty much timeless. I bet the DB9 will one day be considered as such.

I didn’t know about this. Thanks for lending some much needed perspective!

But in that case, I hope they haven’t bitten off more than they could chew.

I remember Lotus paraded like 4 concepts in 2013/2014 that never ended up in production. If they cannot bring their concepts to production, they won’t see a return on all that investment anytime soon. And they will be in a more precarious position in the near term.

Aka fewer cool cars for us :(

They should’ve use the Lagonda Taraf body. Would still be the same car, Lagonda being literally a fancier , stretched Rapide with some coachwork , but it wouldn’t look so outdated
