I just replaced this like a year ago. Less than 10k miles on it. Maybe less than 5k miles. My friend with the shop says it doesn’t surprise him at all. The old part doesn’t even look old...

I know that part. I remember replacing it on my 96 Suburban.  This application looks less fun.

Savanna Van?  Is that a fuel spider?

I have questions:

Is this a minivan?

If so, is servicing engine bay things from the inside of the car normal for mini vans?

If so, what the fuck?

Nice that you can do the work yourself. I’m guessing a shop would charge a fortune in labor for that.

Oh man, the CFI spider.  One of GM’s “better ideas” which wasn’t.

Chevy Astro/GMC Safari with the 4.3 V6, looks like. GM had the brilliant idea to simulate multi port injection with a central injector feeding a network of nozzles that ran down each runner instead of, you know, fitting an actual MPFI.

No this is not a minivan,

No servicing things from inside the vehicle is not normal for minivans.

I believe an aftermarket company does  make ... Or possibly made ... A machined aluminum piece that replaces that spider.

It's easier. Take out the passenger seat and lie on the carpeted floor and your face is twelve inches from the spider.

I remove the seat -- four nuts -- and lie on the carpeted floor twelve inches from the spider. Works quite well.

Better than laying on the ground, that’s for sure.

We had a maroon Safari when I was a teenager that we used as the family hauler/road trip vehicle. Those pillow top captain's chairs were some of the comfiest seats I've ever spent 1,000 miles in.

Well, it kind of isn't. Unibody construction yes, but rear-wheel-drive and sort of a half ton pickup truck drivetrain. It's really an excellent vehicle overall. I have no complaints at all.

Better than bending over to the back of an engine compartment. I'd rather lie on the ground...

I think they’re a “midivan”. Too big at the time to be a true minivan, yet too small to be a fullsize.

They’re still cool regardless ;)
