It’s an F-150 Lariat with the 5.0 and a towing package. W hat would you like to know about it?

Excellent question! So far, I’ve counted four - two in the front console and two in the rear. I haven’t gone looking for any more.
I did note that it has two (!) 110-volt outlets, one in the dashboard and one for the rear seat.
We had an Explorer and learned to hate the touchscreen. This F-150 has a dash full of gloriously chunky buttons for all of the major functions.
The press photo has the buttons right, but the upper set of gauges in my rental are all digital. It does have an analog tach and speedometer, but between the two is another configurable screen full of information.

In my experience, a car should have have x or x-1 amount of cupholders, where x is the number of seats avail
able. Its a problem you won’
t
realize exists until you need them, lol.

Well you could jack it up in the air and spin the wheels. Other than that I'm not sure. Smokey burnout sounds easier.

I’ll have to take a look. I know about two for certain because I needed them during the drive to Houston yesterday. The two in back I spotted before loading up my luggage. There may be bottle spots in the doors and perhaps even more cup holders hiding in the console or in the flip-down arm rest in the back seat.

Hard to say, the bigger Ecoboost engine has the same torque and nearly the same horsepower while the HO Ecoboost has more of both. The towing rating is higher than the 5.0 with both Ecoboost engines.

The 3.5 EcoBoost in standard form as 70 lb-ft of torque extra over the 5.0 Coyote. The Coyote does have 20 horsepower on the 3.5.

Not a surprise. My wife has a cousin over in Denham Springs. When we first saw their house, they had the same brick and same fixtures inside. There are just a few builders who have saturated the market.

That’ s my exact truck but in grey!
If you want to do something irresponsible, follow these instructions:
Fill up with e85 or 93. Come to F ull stop on a deserted road . Put it into 4auto and sport mode. Mash both pedals, release brake pedal, shift into 2hi towards top of 1st or low 2nd. Makes for a pretty quick 0-40.
Shifting in and out of 4auto and 2hi at speed is fine for the truck. Computer takes care of everything.
I do want to know two things:
1) after first starting the truck and driving at 10-20mph, if you give it a little load and then come off the throttle, do you hear something that sounds like marbles in a can?
2) can you hear a whistle/whine at low speed and light load?

The 5.0 and bigger EcoBoost are basically tied in a 1/4 mile. The 3.5 EcoBoost costs more and gets slightly better fuel economy and towing. I believe only the 5.0 is flex fuel though.
The high output EcoBoost is quicker than the 5.0, but it is only available on the stupid expensive platinum and the raptor.

I haven’t heard any marbles as yet, but I did hear an interesting whine while going through the drive- through. It seemed to be speed dependent, so I chalked it up to the automatic transmission.

HO is only available in the platinum though.
It also has a lower to w rating for some reason.
In optimal configuration, the tow ratings are:
HO 3.5: 11,100
5.0 V8: 11,500
3.5 normal: 13,200
I have no clue why

Another handy table below!
Note the payload and max towing are lower on the HO Ecoboost as you said. I’d chalk this up to suspension or perhaps cooling limitations. That was one of the things that made the Lightning a disappointment to a lot of people. Max HP = /= Max towing.

The f150 either comes standard with an open diff or can be optioned with an electronic locking diff. Look at the dial that controls the drive mode. If it looks like the below picture, you can pull the knob towards you and activate the locking rear diff. If it doesn’t have the logo in the middle, then it’s open diff

That table doesn’t capture the HO in the platinum, which is 11,100. Likely cooling isn’t up to the task of the higher output, like you said.
It’s it's only eight thousand on the Raptor and that one is seriously limited by its own weight and the suspension

Not not only that, the engine is remarkably similar to the Mustang. It's nearly identical and as a result easily makes over 400 whp with a tune

V ery true. They also have additional pdfs that outline all of the specific configurations and options and everything. But piecing together the info is really hard. It took me forever before I pulled the trigger on our truck and looking back I probably would have specced it a tiny bit different if I had known better at the time.

I would have likely gotten the safety stuff. I wouldn’ t use it, but the fiance wishes we had it. I wouod have liked the radar cruise control, but I spend all my time in stop and go traffic anyway. I would have also gotten the sunroof maybe, again for the fiance.

Now that we own an Outback with a sunroof, I don’t want one ever again.
Unfortunately, radar cruise (which I like) comes with other things like lane-keeping (which I don’t like). At least it’s been this way on all the rentals I’ve had.

There’s some sense to it, as far as the Platinum not carrying a max-tow rating, I think it has a lot to do with it having a lot of options, bringing down the payload rating and thus the max tongue-weight.
If you dig into it, it’s often the XL’s and XLT’s that have the higher ratings due to having less equipment.

Yup. It shifts a little later and firmer, which comes in handy. The throttle input vs reaction changes too. The early downshifting and holding gears longer is a little silly though.
May sound silly, but it does have the same transmission and engine as the mustang essentially, so it’s a tiny bit sporty.
I I did not purchase it for its "sportiness" though. Ha

I would agree 100%, but Ford doesn’t seem to publish different weights based on trim. They only change ratings based on truck configuration (cab, b ed, and drive type), tow packages, and gear ratios.
Discerning

I figured it out. The limited with the HO can actually tow a lot ompared to other f150's given its limitations. The limitation is the wheels, the unavailability of the max trailer tow package, and the rear gear ratio. The limited can only be purchased with a 3.55 rear.
E verything that follows assumes 2wd, crew cab, short bed:
The HO 3.5 comes with big wheels and no MAX tow package and tows 11,100 with 3.55 rear gear. Wi th 3.55's, the standard 3.5 turbo can only tow 10,700. It can tow 12,700 only if it has the max package and the smaller wheels with a 3.55 rear . So same wheels and lack of max package and the limited with HO tows more. A comparably specced 5.0 only tows 10,000
So really the HO engine is (logically) more capable. It’s just that Ford neuters it with big wheels and no serious tow package.
O therwise it would be safe to assume it could tow at least 400lbs more than the basic 3.5 turbo. So if they offered std wheels, the tow package, and 4.10 gears like the 3.5, then it could probably tow over that truck’s 13,200.

Alright! Thanks for the in depth answer to that question. I hadn’t thought of the wheels.
Interestingly, I think if you plan on regularly towing anywhere near those numbers, you’re probably looking at a Super Duty, in most cases no matter how you configure your 3.5 EcoBoost, you’ll likely have plenty of capacity. The thing bottoms out at 10,700, haha. That’s insane for a half ton!
