Loop, very nice! An FL model from the 80s! Price isn't too bad either! Not sure if that color is factory though, don't remember it!

Was n’t the Yugo based of this?

I believe the Yugo was based off the 127 and 128 which were front engine fwd. The 126 was  essentially an updated 500.

No, they were bigger and fwd. The 126 is tiny and rear engine/ rwd.

Nope! The Yugo was water-cooled, front-engined and front wheel drive, the 126 is rear-engined and air-cooled. The Yugo was based on the FIAT 127:

Yup, the 126 has the same drivetrain as the FIAT 500, though with an uprated 652cc engine, where the 500's maximum engine displacem ent before it ended production (the 500R model) was around 594cc (though the first 126s shared the 594cc engine before it was uprated) .

The 126 also has a gearbox with synchromesh on 2nd, 3rd and 4th, where the 500 only ever had a ‘crash’ gearbox with no synchros.

A nice way to update classic 500s, actually, is to swap in a FIAT 126 drivetrain as they are direct bolt-in to the 500 body if you change the one engine mount at the rear to the 500-style one.
