The church where me and Mrs. T got hitched. It’s shown as the trio are driving through Bagdad, FL.
Also, after putting a few hundred miles on the rental Journey, I can’t understand why these things are so hated. I’d trade the RAV4 for one in a heartbeat.

Trade you the RAV4 for my Pontiac Vibe, seems fair.

Sure!
Full disclosure: it's property of GE Fleet Services and I have no ownership rights.

I lived 5 minutes from there!

TIL there’s a Bagdad in Fl...
I think the Journey is hated because the interior is so awful. The engine / trans are fine (they’re the same as the Compass, right?)

Yep, and it’s across the bay from Eglin’s bombing range, so we could hear nightly bombing runs from Bagdad.

I miss that sound!
I was an AC-130U mechanic, so I was partially responsible for the noise.

I miss the bombing noise at night, it strangely felt safe... Also, I was once in the Piggly Wiggly on 87 when a jet broke the sound barrier. The building flexed a bit, it was amazing.

Cool!
I used to shop at that Piggly Wiggly all the time! I lived on the North end of Holley and I hate crowds and traffic . It was a slightly father drive than the Navarre Publix, but totally worth it.

Their deli/restaurant was fairly decent, and the truckstop across 10 had a Greek restaurant tied into the Crispy Crunchy Chicken.

I lived towards the southern end of Garcon Point.

Suddenly I regret having never set foot in that truck stop! I did frequent the PW deli, though.

Besides Milton Quality Bakery(best donuts I’ve ever had, and likely will ever have), the hidden gem of the area was the Tastee Freez. They had a country fried burger, topped with white gravy. Incredibly unhealthy, but so satisfying up until the coronary blockage. Their fried pickle chips were the bomb too.

I think I only ever got ice cream there once or twice... Regrets!
The Milton bakery lives up to the hype.
I did very nearly buy a house in Bagdad... It was a beautiful Victorian. My Mrs. talked me out of it as it was a bit of a haul from work. I’ve got a couple friends who still own homes on Garcon Point, but they’re rentals now while the owners are living overseas.

I appreciate it more now that I’ve left, though I don’t miss the weekly forest fires... I mean controlled burns on wind advisory days.

If I’m honest, I was a dumbass and bitched about it most of the years I lived here. I wish I could go back and slap myself. It’s such a beautiful place that holds so many memories for me, and I didn’t appreciate it fully until I decided to separate from the military. That meant moving. When I fully realized I was moving, it hit me like a ton of bricks. Suddenly I wanted to turn back time and appreciate it more. I was born and raised in Minnesota, but I became an adult and who I am today here in Florida. Since that realization, I’ve learned to look for the good in every state I visit and every place I live. I’ll never be a “Xxxx sucks!” negative- nancy type person again. I know I bitch about the rain in Oregon, but it’s a breathtaking place.
Speaking of Oregon, don’t talk to me about forest fires. Ugh. I quit smoking 5 years ago, but every summer in Oregon my lungs think I’ve started again.
Side note: I noticed there are fences up along the woods all the way up highway 87. Is recreational access to the Eglin range no longer a thing?

You have to get a pass, but you still can. I unfortunately never did.

I always had a pass- It was basically my back yard. My Jeep covered a lot of miles back in those woods!
