I knew it was too good to be true at that price, even with high miles. It’s the 4.7 instead of the 5.7, and RWD only. But everything else was right... SR5, bench seat, column shifter, short boi... [Sips coffee] Ahhh, Saturday.

There’s a 2001 single cab T-100 for sale near me for something like $2900. I've driven by it a few times and I always think of you when I see it.

Honest question: do you really need the 5.7? The 4.7 is just soooooo reliable it’s hard to say no. Plus RWD would probably be okay for like 98% of applications short of deep mud.

Let me answer your question with a rhetorial question : did you *need* an LR4? Of course not. But did you *want* and *deserve* one? You bet your toasted buns you did.

You’re not wrong. If i was in your shoes, I’d be stuck on the eternal timing belt vs chain dilemma.
That being said, I’ve driven both the 4.7 and the 5.7 and I like the 4.7 more. The 5.7 feels...artificial? Maybe because it’s not working as hard. Je ne sais quoi, but those just be my feelings.
I also HATE the steering in the current gen Tundra, at least the ~2016 5.7 that i borrow from time to time. The old setup was much more linear, the new steering is too boosted. Idk if they used electronic steering or if the older second gens use the same type of steering.

Steering in most newer Toyotas is awful. My work '14 Taco feels like two rubber bands.

There was a month or so when I was really into these. I spent a lot of time looking for the perfect RCSB Tundra. I found some nice examples.
Then I remembered that I don't really haul anything.
