So a couple days ago quite a few electrical items on my BMW just decided to no longer work anymore.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

And now I have confirmation that what I thought happened is indeed the cause. The footwell module known as the FRM is dead. The techs can’t communicate with the module at all. So the part is ordered and I should hopefully have it back on the road by thursday.

Sounds like the 335i experience has run its course... Have you heard the news about our Lord and Savior?

Damn....I bet it will not be cheap. Warranty repair?

If it’s any consolation, my Accent is still working fine. :P

Should be under warranty BMW extended it to over 8 years for that part. Way to rub it in lol.  T hankfully I have a truck to use in the meantime and a Mustang to wrench on.

It sucks because I really like the car but yeah, I think it is time to move on. I think I will take a break from BMW but I have found greener pastures. I’d like to build up some credit and I wouldn’t mind doing so by t rading the turbocharger in for a supercharger and more than doubling the displacement. Can’t wait for my insurance to spike too but screw it I think I’ll have some fun.

I do like that era of cars and my family has owned a few but no. I am going to be moving forward instead of backwards. Plus I already have something to fill that gap in the shape of a 1989 Mustang.

See, a t least on that one, you can replace the capacitors i n the PCM at minimal cost , should they ever fail.

Lucky it’s a warranty repair, I would hate to know what German electronics and the labour to install them would cost....

Es timate at least $2000, whenever you have to come in for a service expect to part with at least that amount. I have had some pretty hefty bills and I paid them gladly because I really enjoyed the car. But a few years have passed since then and better options have come along. I already have a project car and this one is in pretty good condition otherwise. I will REALLY miss the AWD system, the xdrive is seriously underrated by a lot of people. I will most likely trade this in for a new Camaro ZL1.

That’s fair. I don’t see myself getting anything too modern until I have kids and even then I might just get an e55 wagon.

New cars are amazing and have tons of cool shit (I sell Mercedes) but they just don’t do much for me personally
