1. Quality is Job #?
2. Did the fleet buyer pay extra for those?
3. Where are the spray nozzles?
4. Someone looked in their rearview mirror and thought, “yeah, a good wash/wipe will help!”

Methinks that is a see -through wrap. Spray nozzles are probably on the wiper.

It is not a see-through wrap. These were completely opaque and appeared to be stock.

It’s Friday and way too late to be at the office. I’ll need to think about this over a scotch.
I now have questions .

Aren’t these the vehicles that are manufactured in Turkey as passenger wagons and when they arrive on our shores converted to work vans , the seats are removed and the windows replaced with panels to avoid the “chicken tax”? It had windows, and I guess standard rear wipers which are now useless.
As soon as customs agents approve the vans, Ford whisks them offsite where a shipping contractor rips out backseats, flooring and rear windows. The brand-new parts then get sent to Ohio for recycling, and a new floor and metal stampings to cover the window openings go in place. Customs officials say it takes Ford less than 11 minutes to convert a Transit Connect from a people mover to a cargo van, and, while everyone knows Ford has been doing this for the past four years, the Feds have had enough.

I’m guessing the buyer didn’t want windows after the fact so just left the wipers on after swapping to those panels. The nozzle on my liftgate TC is at the base of the wiper arm. I’d have to take the wiper arms off and do something fun like put googly eyes on the mount points if I did that.
T he cargo in the thing must be loosely placed so they don’t want glass...can’t think of any other reason to have zero rear visibility. All of my previous work vans were walled off in the rear for the work station...I did my TC different to have rear visibility and haven’t lost any usable space because of it.

Ford is supposed to remove the wipers for the windowless tailgates.

If they were aftermarket panels, that’d make sense, except you’d have to remove the existing wiper arms to put them on in the first place.

Rear washer nozzle on my parents’ wagon is integrated into the waiper spindle assembly, don’t see why that couldn’t be the case here.
Beyond that, I assume either they got windows swapped out when they realized they didn’t want people seeing their stuff, of that those are not entirely opaque and so they can still see through them a bit.

I’m leaning towards a solid wrap. It’s hard to tell with the potato photo, but there looks to be less of a lip/depression around the window than the factory solid doors. More in-line with what you get with the glass version, as they are bonded to the skin of the door, making them more flush on the exterior, but less so inside.
I became a bit of a Transit Connect nerd when searching for my 2016 1.6. I have solid rear doors and would be happy to trade them with the slightly odd owner in your photo.

If you buy the wagon version (with windows), you can pop them out and replace with solid panels. You can buy the panels from Ford.
