Wow that looks comfortable.
Ready for the alpacalipse.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
1985 AM General HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle commonly known as HUMVEE).
6.2 Liter V8 Diesel, 3 speed transmission. This is a 4-door setup and
we have 2- of the troop carrier rear canvas and frame support that come
with the truck. This Humvee is as good as they get in original
specifications, no customization has been done to this machine. The
standard M-16 gun mounts are located on either side of the two front
seats. Glass is in great shape with no cracks, and the door window
stitching is perfect.
You would have to go thru a 100 of these Humvees to find one in this
shape and to find one with the matching camo painted doors is extremely
difficult.

They are impossibly slow, leak oil, brakes are awful, the battery is the size of a yeti cooler, and generally just sucked. We had some but never drove them in my unit...we got Land Cruisers or Jeep Cherokees instead.

Sorry, I tested too high to go into the Army or Marines. Only the Air F
orce would accept me, but I decided on Engineering School instead of military life.

This is a case of looks are better than reality. My buddy in college was in desert storm, he said he went from his hummer to an APC when they started shooting.

I was looking for a kayak and I found a hummer.

Yeah, you get excited about them...then you drive them and wonder if that 1968 Toyota is better or not? I know my 1988 4-Runner was a shitload better.

You forgot, there was a case of grenades under one seat, and a gas tank under the other.

Normally you get a different kind of hummer on craigslist

I am disappointed that Google was unable to locate an image of Calvin pissing on a Hobbs M eter. This must exist somewhere in nature.

The item of main concern for me is the 6500 miles on a 34 year old diesel
vehicle. The seals on that engine are likely crispy as all get-out. They’d have to pay me $35 to take it off their hands.

Diesel fuel is basically light oil. I don’t see any issues here, just put some cardboard on the ground under the engine.

Depends on where this vehicle is used. A lot of them were used like cars, but a lot barely set foot on paved roads. 6500 miles off-road is like 65000 miles onroad.
Also, who knows how many times that motor was changed or refreshed by the motorpool.
I spent a lot of time in these things, they are zero joy to drive.

I spent a lot of time driving these. There is little good or comfortable about them. This being an early one with the 3 speed auto is even worse, as driving over about 45 mph will be a truly terrible experience (although the flapping canvas won't make you want to drive too much faster anyway). The got better later on with A/C and a 4 speed auto that makes driving on road over around town speeds much better.

I sat in one of these, presumably a nice one, at a fair almost 20 years ago. Decided that I was glad that the military would deem me 4F over the phone, because that was one amazingly uncomfortable vehicle even when stationary.

It’s a military vehicle built by the lowest bidder.
They’re lucky they got seats at all.

I mean, it wasn’t really supposed to get shot at. Which is why they were all unarmored at the start of the War in Iraq. And why they were so vulnerable whe we tried to grab territory without actually pacifying the area. They were meant to support Abrams tanks and Bradley IFVs fighting Soviet armor pouring through the Fulda Gap, not to play light APCs themselves.

I drove these in the Army when they were brand new and one word that would describe them would be underpowered .
I also knew a guy who drove one off a loading dock at some speed and the Humvee did fine, but I think he may have banged up his legs in the bounce.

Actually not a bad price, and probably a great vehicle. My brother bought one of these and had it street legal. It was fantastic. He had the high water fording intake and exhaust. We drove through about 4’ of water. The thing was amazing. He had it for 10 years or so and sold it for about $35k which was more then he paid.

Mines street legal and titled as well with only 9800 miles. Paid $8500. Whoever is selling this is off his rocker!
