I’m gonna miss the conversation street intros.

I’m not sure what to think about the idea of doing all specials. On one hand the specials are always some of the best episodes, but if every episode was a special would that still be the case?

I’m actually a bit behind, I can’t wait to catch up. I thought this season was pretty good overall. I laughed out loud in some of the Conversation Street bits, they really are funny together, which is what makes it all work... I could watch the three of them assemble Ikea furniture or mow the lawn and it would be interesting and/or funny.

I think there will only be a handful of specials. They aren't going to have a ten episode season with a special every week. More likely it'll be 3 specials released at various times throughout the year.

I really liked the first season theme of taking the tent to different cities.

I watched the Mongolia special the other day. They really did hit their stride this season.

You’re behind? You have no idea how close you are.

Mongolia was no Vietnam special, but it was as close as you could get without locals playing a part. That was great.

I'll miss conversation street. But I hope they do special features at least.

Seeing Clarkson’s eyes welled up with tears at the end was really moving.

The Ford bit resonated so much. Growing up in New Zealand in the late 80’s early 90’s - if you lived in rural New Zealand you were generally a Ford family, due to the dealership network. And my parents had a Cortina wagon. Which was replaced with a Telstar, what you really wanted though was a Sierra, if you had a Sierra that was like “whoa” the Telstar wasn’t quite as good, and if you were doing really well, you had a Falcon.

I used to have a 2002 Ford Mondeo Zetec Manual. That was the first car I had when I was working full time and it was great, it was such a good car. It didn’t set the world apart, but it was a good car. It handled so well, it cornered better than my dads Falcon XR6 (he finally got a Falcon), in fact the Mondeo was replaced with a 2005 Holden Commodore SV6 and I missed the Mondeo, in fact I still do, what a bloody brilliant car that was.

- The specials are often the best episodes anyway.

- If every episode is a special, then they really aren’t special anymore, are they?

But yeah they really did a good job this time around.

I’m fine with specials only. They know how to make them and as you said those are always the best anyway. Audience banter... I can live without it. Conversation street is ok, but they can chat plenty in specials as well.

I’m very excited to see the next season.

That’s why the new Top Gear sucks imo. No real chemistry between the presenters and it’s all about the chemistry. Top Gear USA has more chemistry.

But these three guys have it, even being as different as they are.

Very much so. He doesn’t get emotional often - but when he does, it tugs at heartstrings.

The monologue about driving the Porsche to see his dad before he died... that was something else.

I liked Mongolia a lot. I think I liked Botswana better than Vietnam - Oliver moments were awesome.

I liked it as well, but the cost was too much. They had to have two tents and two crews, and in all honesty, that bit of banter with the audience and a few jabs about the city/state was fun but I don’t miss it badly.

I suspect it was less about the cost, and more about it just being too stressful (on the hosts, but also everyone else), for something that was relatively low value.

Could be. Cost is what I read though.
