Just saw one of my local dealers got this peach in. A 50k 1997 Pontiac Bonneville. Yes, you can own this one owner Sunday driver for the low sum of $3,995. RIP to whoever Grandfather passed away.
Link below to check it out. What do you think, NPoCP ?

Me too, more than the next generation which got bloated looking.

That would actually be worth something if it was, those were cool.

The stereo EQ is my favorite part. So much control!

$4k for a 3800 Series II in pristine shape just now due for it’s first transmission fluid change? Complete devoid of rust, with a pristine interior, and no tasteless mods?
Yeah. I’ll give that a NP even though it’s not an SSEi.

Right? I actually want to look at it up close if I’m near the dealer this weekend. You just don’t see them like this any more.

Yeah, and it’s not like this is the poverty spec LE. This would be perfectly adequate as a daily driver.

My dad was driving a 97 Bonneville when I got my license. I loved borrowing that car. And that manual EQ is fantastic. Ours was green with a gray interior though.

Nice! My Grandpa had a green one too actually, can’t remember what interior color. He only kept it for 2 years and upgraded to a new body style Grand Prix.

My dad kept his Bonneville right up until it died while I was driving it. Funny how that works. The responsible adult can drive it for months but when teenage me gets behind the wheel, suddenly it overheats and the engine seizes up.

That’s funny. You just don’t see these anymore, they were very decent cars.

I remember being young and dumb and most of my driving had been limited to minivans up to that point. That Bonneville felt like it would have gone 150mph. And maybe it would have, if it wasn’t for that damn speed governor.

Right, I think we’ve all been there. I remember my first car, my dads old 2.7 Stratus, thinking it was quite quick. It wasn’t a dog, but that thing mainly just made noise haha!

2.7L Stratus can be quite fun with a few simple mods:
Weapon R Intake, Custom headers, full 2.5" exhaust, B&G lowering springs, upgraded rotors/pads. Plenty of snort to surprise quite a few people, handled like it was on rails while still being extremely comfortable for daily use.

I like the previous body better:

That’s pretty cool. I actually liked my Stratus and thought the V6 sounded so much better than the 2.4. It wasn’t fast, but did have a decent amount of pep. My engine ended up having the oil sludge issue that plagued so many of them and we sold it to out mechanic.

They sound amazing with headers and a full exhaust system. Burbly V8 sound at idle, full on race car at WOT.
We bought ours with 12k miles, changed the oil religiously every 3k using Valvoline Synpower and a Mopar filter. 218k on her when we traded her for our truck, never had a drivetrain issue. Had to rebuild the suspension once, otherwise she was trouble free.

Ha I saw the buick version of these driving last night. I’m not a big fan of the rear roofline though , I would take a w body grand prix coupe over that. I like the bumpers on the later models best.

What can I say, I’m partial to square body designs. I feel that body Bonne SSE had an understated look to it that made it dead sexy.
I did have a GP like that years ago, I always loved that body as well.
