Replaced one of them. But now I can drive at night again, have use of my high beams (for the first time since owning my car), and my airbag light isn’t on ever again.

Kinja'd!!!

This is the part that I believe was the culprit. I have never seen anyone post anything online about this part being the reason for the headlight switcher not working on a Miata, so I thought I’d point this out as a potential solution for someone else in the same boat.

I didn’t take a picture of the good one, but it wasn’t sitting so high and flimsy with the spring like the one above. I sanded and put 100% silicone grease on the contacts all through out the switch like I did before:

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

This time though my results were better, in that with the little part replaced it now functions 100%. Maybe I damaged the other one the first time somehow, I don’t know, but it works now so whatever.

Update: The high beams don’t function 100% as they initially did... I was hopeful for this fix, but for now I give up and will just use low beams .

Have you thought about doing one of the LED retrofits? I would imagine it vastly improves nighttime visibility. Even with the much superior lights in my NB2, I find the lights to be pretty lacking compared to my Subaru factory HIDs. But I have super dark canyon roads in the winter time where seeing curves and cliffs and such is pretty important at high rates of speed.

I actually replaced the factory halogens with cibie h4’s a while back. They are pretty damn bright, while keeping a factory appearance. 55/60 I think standard hella  h4 bulbs.  The leds are brighter, but way more expensive and they look aftermarket.  My kit was like $100 all in.

Ahh the stock look definitely fooled me! That's a good deal, lighting is always worth the money. And I agree that the aftermarket look isn't for everyone.

Ha! See! Lol, but no, unless you know what you’re looking for they look factory. I also like the Motorsport heritage of cibie. Watch any old race and cibie is everywhere.  I probably would have went with led’s if they were similar in price to be honest , but I am glad to keep the factory look.
