Adobe Acrobat Professional has somehow deactivated itself. Huzzah. Now it is claiming that it doesn’t have internet with which to be activated.
It is lying.

I hate Adobe products direction with the subscription thing. I detest subscription software.

Say what you will about AutoDesk products, I don’t think this is typical of them.
Adobe is such a concentrated clown show of suck sometimes it’s really something.

It’s not great, but it’s the way everyone is going. I do subscribe to Office 365, which is a pretty good deal since it can be legally shared with family and comes with 1TB of cloud storage. But I’d still prefer to buy apps that aren’t going to put you through any huge authentication hassle.

Macs are dropping support for 32bit software this year, and even though my copy of CS6 is 64bit, there’s some secondary Adobe bullshit that is still 32bit. I’m just going to say screw it if it breaks compatibility. I’m not dealing with Adobe’s subscription BS.

Now YOU’RE the acrobat, jumping through hoops to unbugger it.
Thank you for calling and I understand your frustration. Can you please to go behind of your computer and make the sure that the power cable is plugged into a power receptacle, and then once you have plugged it in, please press the power button located on the front or possibly side of your computer. This will power your computer to on, at which time you are should be able to locate the icon for Adobe Acrobat Professional on your desktop. You must click it two times to launch Adobe Acrobat Professional. Have I answered all o f your questions in a satisfactory manner today?

I am stubbornly clinging to my previous versions of office, or using Apple’s office suite. Instead of photoshop, I’ve used Pixelmator for years now, and iStudio for layout.

How many viruses passed around the internet because of Adobe products (Flash and Acrobat).
Acrobat is such crap. I can open,
view, read and close
a PDF in other free software LONG before Acrobat will even begin to load.

Amen. I’ll exhaust all other alternatives first.

Which version? There’s something called acrofix that may repair what you describe.

I had a copy of O ffice 2007 (which I got from the MS store for like $25), but decided since it was End of Life and the cloud storage space was useful, I may as well do the whole thing for my family. Honestly, Google Docs probably gets you 80-90% of the way there, but it’s sometimes a pain not to have that last 10%.

The only real problem i have ditching Office is Word. I have colleagues who insist on using track changes for editing docs. I hate track changes anyway.

No using alpha open-source software on a custom Linux distribution running on a 20-core CPU you built in your garage?
What is this barbarism?

this sounds crappy, but at least it’s not network license issues with acad/vault.

It’s standalone Acrobat 8 Professional, so no joy. It’s launching, merely insisting afterward it can’t activate.

And this is why my father wont let go of his old kernel licences. Yep, plural. Last he told me he still had over a couple dozen.
Another industry standard ruined by new ownership or something to that effect.
