Get a professional.

Safelite is not a professional.

I did.  Track debris.  Safelite once, it was ok.  Dealership the next time.  Go with the dealer if you can.

I haven’t done a corvette, but either a dealer or find a local shop with good reviews. Like others said, the national chains lik e Safelite are a gamble at best.

If you know anybody in the trucking industry or who works at a truck repair shop, ask who they use. The company I work for has our own fleet and mechanics at each service center, and at each of our locations, we have local glass companies we utilize. Anytime I or a co-worker have needed a windshield repair, we utilized whichever company our mechanics were using. Always got great results and better pricing than Safelite.  May be worth making a few calls for recommendations.

Agree with this. Safelite seems to be the Maaco of windshield replacement. They have their own factories that make the glass which is part of why it is so cheap. I have heard that some have a lensing effect from imperfect contouring. On the other hand, most body shops may also cut corners and use any sealant, maybe not the right stuff because they can save $2 a tube. I used my localish small chain that had a couple of regional shops. Came out the same or maybe $25 more than Safelite.

Make sure to get use the manufacture that made the glass, their logo is often on the bottom corner. Pilkington Glass and PPG are the two main auto glass suppliers. Ask the shop what brand they use.

Also, check to see if your car had a special color. Some glass is green, some is pink? It can vary based on paint code. Also check if you have a sun blocker on the top, if you don’t and they use one with one, it could reduce visibility.

Don’t go with anyone who says you can drive it right away. Glass has some stresses on it and you should let the sealant cure for a couple of hours before driving it home. Then wait 24-48 before spirited driving. .

NO! Bad commenter, DIY windshields is not the place to save a few bucks. Let a pro do it. ;).

As others have said, the dealer is a good option, and if you can reach out to the body shop, they may tell you who they use, if they don’t do them in house.
